Steve Forte gambling demo

Some years ago I saw Steve Forte doing a gambling demonstration on "The hidden secrets of magic" TV program. His performance was, technically speaking, one of the best I've ever seen (Steve Forte is in a league of his own).
Unfortunately, Steve didn't expose the last effect he performed. Since I really liked it and couldn't find its explanation anywhere, I set myself the challenge to duplicate the effect. This is what I came up with.
