World’s Most Dangerous Roads | Russia - The Long Road to Siberia (2010)
World’s Most Dangerous Roads | Bangladesh - The Nawabpur Road: • World’s Most Dangerous...
They run through deserts, through ice and snow, deep into the jungle, along the water and over the mountains. The landscapes through which these routes wind are unique and exert their never-ending fascination even on regular travellers.
The roads at the Artic Circle are covered in ice and snow almost eight months out of the year. Conditions that would lead to a total collapse further south are routine for the experienced men of the High North on the road in their trucks. But the truckers work under the same time pressures as their colleagues in the warmer South: the goods must get to customers on time. The film accompanies truck drivers on their way from Nadym to Salekhard. They tell of their lifes in the endless landscape of ice and snow.

They run through deserts, through ice and snow, deep into the jungle, along the water and over the mountains. .the landscapes through which these routes take us are unique and hold a neverending fascination for who watch and for all who travel these roads. The roads at the Arctic Circle are covered with ice and snow for almost the entire year - 8 out of 12 months. conditions that might cause total chaos and traffic shutdown elsewhere, is routine for the experienced drivers of the High North Roads of Siberia. Like their colleagues worldwide, the Siberian truckers work under the same time constraints - products must be delivered on time. Especially the remotest villages expect their goods on time because they don't have other options. Our Most Dangerous Roads crew accompanies our fearless drivers from Nadym to Salekhard while telling tales of their adventures and lives in a landscape of the endless white of ice and snow. PS: This is a premiere episode for #freedocumentary and NOT a reupload or repeat stream. If you have already seen this episode, you've seen it on another channel, and you're in luck because you can watch it here again. Great docs are worth repeat viewings. They’re not kidding about the level of skill that it takes to navigate through conditions like that. And the quality of the equipment. Surprised that they don’t use tire chains for extra traction. Maybe they would wreck the road for other drivers. It’s not concrete underneath. Gotta tip my hat, though. That’s really rough driving and extreme weather.
@svampebob007
@svampebob007 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't understand why non of them were using chains. Here in Tromsø (69N) it doesn't get bellow -12c most of the winter, but you will see buses with Chains when the weather is really rough, truck and trailers will put on chains to back up very slippery slopes. The only reason you aren't allowed to drive with chains all winter is because of noise and also because it would destroy the roads really quickly if everybody used them to get up slopes, but chains work out great. on ice, compacted snow and deep snow... so idk why the "jeeps" (toyotas) weren't using them to get past the tucks that had slipped off the road. I mean even the people didn't use crampons or microspikes, I personally use them all winter and you can climb up some pretty icy trains without fearing of sliding, and when the snow melts off during spring, you still get greater traction with the "shoe chains" then without. To me that's the weirdest part of this docu. Still their equipment is really impressive, bunch of old military designed machines, but top reliability in the most demanding conditions for sure!
@OKANGUVEN99
@OKANGUVEN99 2 жыл бұрын
From my understanding Chains work well in ice and these guys drive on snow. Hence why they air downed, so the tires can have a large surface area on the snow and wont dig down. I guess when it starts to thaw or it has just snowed it is similar to sand or something.

@@trillrifaxegrindor4411 E Well , in America they are only required for certain sections with high ups or down slope angles. But, yeah, with only dirt underneath it would dig a trench for other drivers. Still, depends on how deep the ground is frozen, too. Goes down a meter or so in truly winter climate. The depth to sink a fence post that is below frost heave is a meter roughly. Higher and the ground will push it up when frozen. Still mad skills to me that they can get a rubber tired vehicle through those conditions.

Ha ha, We are from the UK me and my wife had a week in Moscow December 7 years ago, we bought all this "artic survival gear" (well lots of heavy winter clothing) and in the end we never wore any of it. It was cold but obviously not that cold thank goodness. We both adored the place you are very lucky.

Actually, Siberia is very beautiful. You should look for some photos of the Altai Mountains, for example. And not many people live there due to the harsh climate. 23:15 I live in Russia, but I haven't known these groups still exist...So thanks for the illuminating information 😊

My wife’s family lives in the Altai region actually, settled there over 100 years ago….I don’t know how people live in those conditions myself, I’m a native of the coastal southeast US, and I can’t stand our winters.

@@noaht5191 Greetings to you from Altai, I was born and have been living here for 38 years now, I can’t imagine a more beautiful place to live. I have traveled to many countries of the world, and people are beautiful in their own way everywhere (unlike politicians), but always pulls here, home. Our winters have become warmer, at night only -20-25, during the day it is very warm -10-15. We do not have poisonous animals and insects, we have a lot of good tasty water and natural products, and thanks to the nature of the Altai Mountains, we treat our bodies with herbs and what our ancestors have been using for healing for centuries.

its -35 and the guy's jacket is open and he's wearing a t-shirt. He's driving trucks from the 60's using old cables and without chains. I love how he's just completely used to it and for him it's "normal".
@martinb6072
@martinb6072 Жыл бұрын
Actually, those trucks might be way newer than the 60's. They just don't change their design, otherwise they won't work in these conditions. They have to be simple and durable. Otherwise if something breaks and you can't fix it, your only hope is if help arrives ... IF.
@DedHobbit
@DedHobbit 11 күн бұрын
There is an unspoken rule. The harsher the conditions (desert, frost, humid forests, etc.), the less electronics you should have in your car. In such conditions, everything should be based on the usual mechanics. This reduces the chance of a breakdown and increases the opportunity to fix it yourself with a wrench and swear words.
