Along a 44 years amazing career, since Genesis "Nursery Cryme" ( 1971 ), Steve Hackett has been, undoubtedly, one the best guitarists in the world, both on the electric and acoustic work, as well as great composer in many different kinds of music. Eternally highly inspired and with lots of wonderful ideas, he also remains the personification of the true spirit of Genesis in the 70's. What else to say about a great genius ? Steve, many thanks for 44 years of wonderful music and guitar playing !

I've been into rock music since 1976 and I don't know how it's happened, but I've never heard a Steve Hackett track before until I was guided to 'Wolflight' as a KZbin recommendation. My jaw literally dropped when I heard that track, bought the album then heard this.Talk about blown away. Have now ordered his back catalogue and got a ticket to see him later in the year. It's great to be excited about music again.

I'm happy to hear Steve singing. I love the tembre of his voice. It was several decades ago I enjoyed dinner and an evening of discussion with him through a mutual friend. The resonance is still in my mind's ear. It's the same way I gravitate to the unique tone quality of Steve's guitar work. Some have it, and some don't! Provocative song on classic themes of life, death, love and longing. Way to go Steve.

This is a song all about getting caught up in a relationship with a narcissist. A vampire that sucks away your spirit or soul rather than your blood. Excellent work as always from Steve Hackett.

I purchased STEVE HACKETT, "WOLFLIGHT," within days of it's release, April, 2015. The first potential song of the album for me was track #5 "Corcyican Fire." In May, 2015, I purchased a concert ticket to see STEVE and his great band, play the ACHOLYTE to WOLFLIGHT tour at the Scottish Rites Auditorium, Collingswood, NJ. Over the summer, WOLFLIGHT continue to grow in appreciation for me. In October, 2015, I got a call from a Prog friend- "a famous Prog guitar artist and his band needs a driver for 2 days to drive from Wilmington- Lynn Massachusetts, and then back to the Keswick, theatre, Nov 18-20th....you, available?!" Yeah, who is it?! Ha-ha...yeah, wow! So your driver to the stars, drove the STEVE HACKETT band, and, one WOLFLIGHT concert turned into 5 shows in 6 nights, and the HIGHLIGHT of the set EACH night was, "Love Song to a Vampire!"

I love how Steve can go from classical guitar to soaring electric seamlessly and make it work. I agree, I heard the "In the Court of the Krimson King" influence here, but that's OK, its an awesome tune to use as an influence ! I am glad there are still some artists who are creating in what we use to call the art rock / classical rock vein, although some call it progressive rock. So true also about some relationships being essentially vampiristic ! Wonderfully involved composition. He is also one of the only players that is so skilled at both classical and electric guitars and is so tasteful with both, and possesses the most haunting vibrato ever !

@Efe Cosmico I think, possibly NOT .. or has a narrow viw of music' .. What Peter did was 'popular' not necessarily pop .. and, like Bowie, he furthered 'pop' out of all recognition .. It's not 'Puppet on a string' huh!!?? I'd add Family Snapshot to that .. The shooting of Kennedy in narrative form, in a song, from the shooters perspective ... clearly a 'pop' sensibility..lol

One of the best pieces of music I have ever heard. Completely entranced by this song (on many levels) from an album I ordered, mainly because I already liked Steve Hackett's work and because the late great Chris Squire played bass on this track. The album, Wolflight I had never heard a single track from (like several of my albums), but a choice I will certainly never regret, absolutely awesome track, as is the whole album.

You came to me at a dark hour in time Your lips tasted so sublime You drink in my hopes, my bleeding heart You promised me a brand new start You told me I wasn't born 'til we met My life before a distant regret You said that my friends were no good for me You claimed only you could set me free Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire Once again I sing a love song to a vampire You demanded my undying devotion Took over all my emotions But you were away for many a night Secretly living another life I searched for a real love, I ran away And found a warm place to stay But I heard your cries, your anger, your lies A flash of your eyes pulled me back inside Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire Once again I sing a love song to a vampire Weaker and colder each time I retuned Desperate to please I never learned The door was unlocked but my heart was in jail Caught in the web of your spell I must finally stake my claim Re-take my own life once again Set me free, let me breathe I'll shed the sunlight on your deceit Each time you enslave me To your deepest desire
