Think of how many amazing musicians over the years who died early in life. Randy Rhoads, Steve Clark, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Bonham, John Lennon, Dimebag Darrell, Ronnie Van zant, Cliff Burton, and so many more. Whatever you think of Dream Theater's music now versus 25 years ago.... We should all be happy and grateful that these guys in Dream Theater are still around in their 50s making incredible music that even some of those greats that I mentioned could only dream of playing. Thank you Dream Theater. Thank you for not dying.

Yeah the high expectation for fans for these guys is ridiculously insulting, especially with bands like Metallica whose fans continued good will against their sheer volume of their dubious output is insane. So the fact this band still sounds this steel solid, after 30 years, these fans don't deserve this at all, and your fans gotta pretty awful people when you writet a song about them

@@user-ov2mx9rf9c Incredible is correct; they write all their own music, perform live more than almost any artist I can think of and have been doing so for thirty years without slowing down. I almost positive that was the significance of the comment, with many of the artists discussed having died by the age of 27. Dream Theater has been producing music longer than many of those artists lived for

Mangini's setup is actually way better for your neck and back. Drummers often experience a lot of compression issues with their spines, but lifting your arms up while looking up to hit stuff over your head is much better for alignment and spine health.

The voice is VERY processed, but it's okay. It definitely doesn't sound bad, I like processing on a voice, especially on a very high-pitched one like Labrie's. I've always thought that his problem is live, and not in the studio. With comping, time and care he can put up a good performance. Unfortunately years of tireless live activity must have taken a toll on his stamina and voice strenght, and it's definitely evident live. He's my favorite singer and always will be, and I hope with all my heart that he finds a way to preserve/recover his voice and avoid poor figures live or completely lose it. I love him and he doesn't deserve all the hate DT fans tend to have.

Lyrics: You built this world around you, your universe In spite of best intentions, things could not be worse Chaos and fear left you hangin' by a thread As you argue with the voice inside your head Untethered angel Falling into darkness Don't be afraid of letting go Givin' up yourself won't set you free Misgivings and dismay, nightmares of wasted days Can't live your life this way, something needs to change Healthy, accepting thoughts, intent on driving us Avoidance at all costs, a painful thing to watch Fear can't live inside you Push you to the edge Face the fear within you Wake up from the dead Untethered angel Falling into darkness Don't be afraid of letting go Givin' up yourself won't set you free Set you free Untethered angel Falling into darkness Don't be afraid of letting go Open your heart, be set free

They are same people with no dramatic change in the sense of skill throughout years. They would sound same if there was no mikro portnoy in band . . Would u prefer this band over dream theater as we knew and Love?

When it's all the same, you don't like it. When it's something new, you don't like it either. Why don't you just listen to the music itself?! For me this is the music I love DT for. And that's enough for me.

I liked the astonishing and I liked this one too. However, the problem with this is its too soon. If they would take the time it could have been better. It does not harm to be better does it?

I personally admire and appreciate both Portnoy and Mangini. Both are incredible musicians and have been inspirational to countless others, myself included. They are doing what they love to do. I respect both of them and the band as a whole. Most of us will never be able to achieve this level, so we can humbly appreciate what they have done.

Only heard on tinny laptop speakers but they still sound better than other drums since Mangini came in so yeah, well done. It's all a bit prog-by-numbers very DT - would love to see them get a bit more djenty at times but much more promising than for a while.
