Americans are oblivious to FIBA basketball. All year round, USAB maintains a team of overseas players, G-League two-way players, and ex-NBA players being coached by guys who are out of the league like Jeff Van Gundy and play in home and away games in Nov and Feb during the season and July/August when there isn't a major tournament like the Olympics or the basketball World Cup. It's those games and continental tournaments where you get to see players who aren't in the NBA but should be play the best, most intense games you'll ever find outside of the NBA playoffs. FIBA doesn't have qualifying tournaments anymore, they do actual qualifying windows like in soccer to find out which teams are the best over a four-year cycle than just reward a team who can be great for two months every 2 years.

If you watched this game the defense wasn't the problem as much as rebounding, the let South Sudan have way too many second chance points, and South Sudan was on fire from 3 even when contested. Nah, Mark Jackson was limited. And I'm a Warriors fan who is currently down on Kerr. Jackson's contribution, and it was a big one, was on defense. The Warriors before him never -- EVER -- played defense in the decades leading to that point. Offensively, though, it was a hard watch. Kerr was the one who brought the motion offense and unleashed Draymond. The league eventually caught up to their style of play, and he has been very slow in adjusting to it.
