🟢 Who is Steve Howard?
Leading sustainability officer, Steve Howard, has been pioneering environmental change in the corporate sphere for more than two decades. From founding his own ventures to transforming global brands, Steve has been at the forefront of action both in the public and private sectors. Regularly booked as an event speaker, Steve empowers audiences with the education and strategies to work towards a sustainable future, as an individual and corporate-wide.
Recognized for his defining impact as the Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA, Steve was responsible for developing the business’ sustainability strategy and ensuring environmental performance. As part of the role, which he held for six years, Steve implemented the People and Planet Positive Scheme, designed sustainable products and led a project that saw 3 billion euros invested in renewable energy. A passionate environmentalist, Steve’s most recent venture has been as the Chair and Co-Founder of WE MEAN BUSINESS, a group of organisations, businesses and investors committed to combating climate change.
Since leaving IKEA in 2017, Steve has continued his impactful work, taking on such roles as the Co-Chair of the Environment and Natural Resources Global Future Council. He is currently an Advisory Board Member for Sustainable Energy for All, championing greater access to resources that improve social and economic wellbeing in addition to supporting the environment. Steve is also the Chief Sustainability Officer for Temasek.
