I failed high school with the worst grades possible. After watching this speech in 2011 it made me do high school all over again and graduate with the highest grades in all subjects, got in to university and finished a master in architecture and now I'm working with my dream job as an architect.

This is probably my 15th time listening to this video. Which means that, this is the 15th time that I’ve experienced failure, feeling lost and hopeless. This video is The Whole Earth Catalog for me. Doesn’t give me answers but definitely gives me hope and the strength to do what I love while still finding what more I can love. To everyone reading this comment, please don’t give up if you strongly believe and love what you do. Life is so random, it’s not unfair. It’s not always beautiful. Just impossibly random. You never know. You got this.

Steve's "reality distortion field" only worked on people - not nature. He was able to make people see his vision for an amazing future. Unfortunately, as Richard Feynman, the great physicist said, " "For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." Thanks, Steve. You did, indeed, do what you said you wanted to do - "make a dent in the universe".

It's a shame he lacked wisdom in other areas: "Jobs resisted his doctors' recommendations for medical intervention for nine months,[165] in favor of alternative medicine. Other doctors agree that Jobs's diet was insufficient to address his disease. However, cancer researcher and alternative medicine critic David Gorski wrote that "it's impossible to know whether and by how much he might have decreased his chances of surviving his cancer through his flirtation with woo. My best guess was that Jobs probably only modestly decreased his chances of survival, if that."[166][167] Barrie R. Cassileth, the chief of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's integrative medicine department,[168] on the other hand, said, "Jobs's faith in alternative medicine likely cost him his life ... He had the only kind of pancreatic cancer that is treatable and curable ... He essentially committed suicide".[169] According to biographer Walter Isaacson, "for nine months he refused to undergo surgery for his pancreatic cancer - a decision he later regretted as his health declined""

I was born and live in china, the intense culture conditioning brainwashed me to be the person what my parents wanted me to be, yet I felt deep inside I was caged with their expectation, from Steve’s speech, I found strength, I backpacked to many countries and tried so many different things (jobs and adventures), I finally realized life is a journey to discover your true nature, and be it, though it’s not really always rainbows and butterflies, yet in general I found Joy and Peace along the way. Thank you for asking, it reminded me how blessed I am to have this life.

va.wl eh, I’d still say the vast majority would understand perfectly fine, I mean he works off of emotion here which is core to every human being. A universal language, really. The main difference is how many people would actually do something about it. I’m willing to bet that every 9 out of 10 people that watched this video took what Steve said on board, but just either lacked the stability (by that I don’t mean in a mental sense) or the courage to actually do something about it. That’s in no way a bad thing though, as there is no perfect fit for everyone to live a great life.

Truly transformational words. I remember finding this speech in the spring of 2008 when I was an exhange student in Stockholm. It struck me with so much force, and I remember showing it to my new exchange student friends who were equally inspired. Steve Jobs was putting into words the exact philosophy of life that we were all trying to connect with and have the courage to live out. Later that year during the summer break, a group of us went on a road trip in an old Volkswagen bus, from Stockholm to Bergen… We would be listening and singing along to Life is Wonderful by Jason Mraz over and over again. And I remember these moments during this trip where I felt so grateful just to be alive and singing with new friends, and feeling that hunger and foolishness, and wanting to never ever loose that. After the Exchange program had ended, we would e-mail each other to catch up and would end our conversations with those words: “stay hungry, stay foolish”. Thank you Steve Jobs for this wonderful wonderful speech which we took to heart during the summer of our lives. And a big shout out to my special Erasmus friends around the world! “No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true. “Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary”

The only billionaire I had respect for. The only person I look up to. Those who think that Steve lost the battle to Cancer are wrong. Steve Jobs is more alive than a lot of people I see everyday. The energy he left in this world is still felt by young entrepreneurs like me. May God rest his soul in peace!

Watched this when I was in 6th grade when I first found what I truly loved which was human anatomy, watched it again when I was in high school when my social life was suffering and felt the dream of med school was far beyond my capabilities, watching it now in med school and I can’t help but cry each time as I pray for God to continue guiding me through this journey. Hope all of you guys watching this find what you truly love and pursue it till the end of the world.

I remember watching this speech for the first time 8 years ago back in high school, dreaming of becoming an inventor and starting a company. I have seen failures but I have also grown a lot and hopefully I will soon become a researcher. Watching this speech again is one of the few things that stops me from feeling lost and overwhelmed by the difficulties. Faith (in anything) is what helps us to push through. Never lose faith!!

In June 2005, as head of graduation, our daughter Sabina Alistar graduated simultaneously with her bachelor's and master's degree. Unique memories....tears of joy....Thank you Stanford University!!!💌💥
