This presentation was a mouthful, and please forgive any areas where I didn't use optimal word choices. If there's anything you didn't understand, or I wasn't clear on, please ask for clarification and I will try to be more precise. 1st Clarification. When I was mention Living Waters near the beginning, I was trying to say that sometime after my video exposing their podcast was released (featuring Steve) they removed it. I'm not saying this was specifically because of my video or damage control in general. I simply do not know, but my video was viewed by many. To my knowledge, they have still never issued a public apology for being complicit in allowing Steve to spew idolatry on the podcast (he made a G.O.A.T tier claiming the pastors he was under were the most Godly men of the last 100 years) . It was removed, and I have proof of this, having a portion of the original audio, as well and being able to show the missing episode from their archives. 2nd Clarification. When I said near the end Steve is still lying, I didn't mean that directly. I don't know what he is saying to others now. I meant that in the context that his silence speaks louder than words, and that he still hasn't taken the route of full responsibility. Steve should just apologize for being a hypocrite by teaching another man in his position would fail to have the evidence of being saved, he should confess that he was a bad fruit inspector.

Both sinned. She idol worshipped this man/Larson. He lusted someone other than his wife. The rest is irrelevant. Sin is sin. Repentance is needed by both.

Hey Jan! I'm merely pointing out the greater responsibility will always fall on the man, under God's headship order, especially when it comes to teachers. Though it's possible idolatry was involved, remember that such men make themselves idols. She at least to some extent grew up in a spiritual environment where the idolatry of leaders was normalized. This is especially heightened within many reformed traditions. So is she more of a victim or equal? You can be a victim, and still sin. Being a victim doesn't necessarily mean you are perfect. These are certainly complex topics. This is not just an issue of Steve, but much of the modern church system.

@@JDsVarietyChannel I don’t think he will ever repent. He is ego driven. He places himself above God. He also used his position to encourage/manipulate a young woman. His profession was his manipulative tool.

Since he's going to another church (his brother's from what I hear) I actually think he will make some kind of public statement eventually. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

This is such an unfortunate and multifaceted situation. When I initially saw the title of the video I thought that the verbage was a bit harsh and extreme, but after listening to your presentation it is fitting for Lawson's actions. I agree with your perspective based on the information available thus far, especially regarding the power dynamics, headship order, and possible clergy abuse (based on the Texas law definition given). However, regarding the woman, I personally don't think that some articles written on her with the intention of highlighting her accomplishments can present an accurate depiction of her character as a christian. Just my humble opinion. To be clear, in no way am I stating that she's not a possible victim in this. Other than that I think you're spot on Jonathan.

Hey Kristen. I completely agree. This is a tough topic and I tried hard to cover all angles of what I what trying to explain. I certainly wasn't trying to say the articles prove she's a God fearing woman. Sorry if it came across that way. I was more-so trying to point out that being 20, and plugged in Grace community, TMU, Lawsons's teachings, etc, that at that age to some extent you're still a product of your environment (if anything it's an indictment against the system) and that she wasn't trying to become a student of the Word to intentionally become a bad person. I'm going to look at her as innocent until proven guilty. Not innocent the sense that there is zero wrongdoing on her part, but that the primary responsibility of this falls on Lawson (whether he was a groomer or not) . I was just trying to counteract those willing to sacrifice her on the alter of equal accountability. Also, if the woman had any major moral, behavioral issues apart from this. I think they would have come to light by now. There are many people who would love to find evidence to support Lawson. I have not been able to find anyone who has bore witness against her outside of this issue. But I will keep trying to look at it objectively as things progress. Feel free to add to or subtract anything else from the video. I'm thankful for discussions on this one, as if was difficult to frame and cover, and I know my words were imperfect. Also, I'll be updating the pinned comment, but in modern English we tend to think of the word hate as a passionate, active, disgust. Whereas is biblical terminology, the idea of hating your father and mother for the sake of the gospel is to show preference, that we can have only one Master. What I was trying to encapsulate is that Lawson hates women in the sense that he is continually proving he cares about himself more than the women he is affecting, and still to this day by his actions. I rarely use such scathing language, but think it's appropriate here.

@JDsVarietyChannel Hey Jonathan! Thank you for responding! I listened to the video several times before commenting and it did come across that way (to me) just a bit. There are so many angles to this. As you already know, I am COMPLETELY on the same page as you regarding Lawson and I agree that this young lady is most likely a product of her environment. Like I said in the beginning of my comment, after listening to your presentation in its entirety the passionate verbage is well suited for what he has done using the biblical context. I appreciate your thorough clarification ☺️

Hi Cynthia. Yes, God is the ultimate judge for people's eternal destination. I hope the best outcome for Steve. This is a harsh rebuke showing that I despise his actions, and to warn/teach others with what can be gleaned from this tragedy. I know it's not tasteful for some, but something I personally think is important.

I'm not sure I would say most, but certainly many. Certainly some seek tradition with impure motives, but many people seek such institutions with good intentions, thinking that's where God resides, only to receive a startling wake up call in due time.

@@JDsVarietyChannel I 100% agree with your statement. The Church is the House of God, but not God himself. It’s a place to learn, to worship, to praise God. One might find God there but it’s not the only place to find God. I first found God in my church. But many years later renewed my faith in a different environment altogether.

Can you please describe what you mean? I sincerely don't understand what you're saying. I never said following biblical doctrine means you hate women. I'm saying that Steve's actions up until this point are showing that he despises women. He did not care about his wife, and now he does not care about the reputation of the other woman because he won't apologize for manipulating her, allowing people to view her in a negative fashion.

If you're talking about the feminist bit, you missed my point. I don't agree with feminism at all. I was pointing out that some people (usually politically minded people) have used the headship order in the bible as an pretense to go around belittling women in order to try and equalize the score. They have swung the pendulum to the other extreme as an overcompensation, and don't understand what they're talking about. Many of them come off to me as spiteful.

@@JDsVarietyChannel Almost nobody uses the Bible as a pretense to go around belittling women. That's your distorted view on things. People do use the Bible to explain that there are clear gender roles and direction that the Bible orders for the church.

I certainly think that women with a seductive nature hate men. But if there's a poor prostitute that uses her body to feed her children, I wouldn't aim the same scorn at her. She's acting immoral, but not with the same malice of intent and self seeking indulgence. "Almost nobody uses the Bible as a pretense to go around belittling women." Really? I know that's a huge problem within certain sects of the Islamic faith. It's not as common within Christian sects perhaps, but it's certainly there. There have been hyper fundamentalists who have abused children and wives. In conclusion, I'm not a feminist. Certainly, there are many selfish women in this world who ring men out to dry. I'm aware of the stories of men's lives being ruined due to the broken, modern, legal system here in the US. It's horrible. But what does all of that have to do with what I'm covering here? I probably agree with you on more than you realize, but I also look at each situation independently. In this specific situation, I believe Steve Lawson deserves the far greater scrutiny.
