I’m old but thankful I saw Steve with the Small Faces when they toured Australia with the Who in 1968 … He was my favourite singer back then and still is to this very day in 2021 …

Instantly recognizable... Three cords that change music for us true rock heads, E G A were never the same. Steve was the master that blended True Blues with Hammering Rock, to make the 70’s what they were... The best music of the century! ( Note 1:27 and 6:54 )

The absolutely best blues singer of all time, that's a quote by Muddy Waters, who was genuinely amazed by Marriote's vocal abilities with the Blues. What's up with our rock and roll community? Are they so jealous that Marriott's voice and musical skills get ignored? As a performer and musician, his extraordinary vocal talents aren't recognized for what he gave or brought to rock and the blues; it's a shame for many of them. If I could tell as a teenager back in the 1970s how great Marriott was, what the hell was up with the lot of them.

I am to young to have seen Humble Pie. All I can add here is my opinion and that is Steve Marriott was way ahead of his time. One of the greatest rock voices and guitar tones in history. He played the s#!t out of this classic ! I'm going back to watch this again! RIP Steve your influence lives on 🎸🎤

I was so upset when the Small Faces broke up that I kind of lost interest in Stevie for a while... I think I ‘blamed’ him for the split lol... well, I was quite young at the time! So glad I got over my ‘hurt’ enough to get tickets to see Humble Pie play the exotic Walthamstow Technical College concert hall in the very early ‘70’s. They were phenomenal... their thundering power on I Don’t Need No Doctor will live with me forever!

This is a fantastic version! I was lucky enuf to see “the pie” do this at winterland SF & later, and I have to saw this version, which I hadn’t heard before brings chills, it’s every bit as good as the originals and maybe better. Steve really knew how to take a song’s dynamics through the highest highs & slowest and lowest of lows. Also his vocal rhythmic timing & harmonies are amazing. In my opinion this is one of the greatest rock songs of all time. Surely top10. Your music lives on, RIP Steve!

This is the era I saw Marriott. As is obvious he was a great rhythm guitarist which is a big part of why Rockin The Fillmore lives on as a classic. When you combined that playing with Frampton’s virtuoso leads and plucky harmony vocals to Marriotts rasp and not to mention Ridleys bravado, the outcome was really a gas - it was really a gas man.

Well, I'm not too young to have seen Humble Pie live, and they had a well-deserved rep for rockin' the house down! Especially the guitar tone they achieved on songs like Don't Need, both bluesy and nasty rock. But this flavor of the Steve Marriott band was very musical, the bass and guitar having some fun-- give it a listen. Worth every minute.

In the world of music after the revolution in the 50s there were many extraordinary singers who fitted the description "Lead Vocalist"..... Buddy Holly, Elvis, Gene Vincent, Jerry Lee, et al, Jagger, Bowie, Lennon, et al - however there was one vocalist who shone brighter than the rest...if you weren't there you could never imagine the raw talent and the honed, professionally trained artistry of Steve Marriott. If you don't believe me then you must go to KZbin "Ogden's Nut Gone Flake" listen to the wonder of Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Ian MacLagen and Kenny Jones! Sublime musical theatre!

Love the last part of the comment "Sublime musical theatre" the requirement for being entertained whether in a large production or small intimate settting Standing only for the quality of Mr Marriot because I wouldn't be able to keep still.

Went to see Frampton about 10 years ago and in between songs he was talking about "Stevie"...and "Pie". I heard the guy in front of me (possibly 40's) asking his mate, "Who's Stevie Pie"!! Felt like dragging him to the exit and lobbing him out. Great gig though.
