@derektaylor2941Күн бұрын
@@jogolock1190 please don't buy a licence just out of fear as there really is no need. Look up a channel here named 'Chili Jon Carne' and his other channel 'TV Licence Stop'. If you aren't watching live broadcast or downloading iplayer you do not need a licence. Would you buy road tax for a car you didn't own just out of fear of DVLA? No. You don't need to give any reason to cancel your tv licence or to not renew it. If they ask you for a declaration of why you're not buying one then you have no obligation to reply. None at all, no matter how much they promise to not bother you. In truth you'll get a letter threatening you every few months, which can be filed in the B1N; these are generic fines and will start 'Dear Occupier..... We are now proceeding with our latest threat...' Really? They don't even know your name and yet are issuing legal threats. There is no such thing as a TV detector van, no matter what you might believe, think you've seen or have heard from others. In the vanishingly likely chance that a tv licensing bod comes to your door, you simply say "No thank you. Goodbye." Don't be rude, just don't speak to them. Don't sign anything no matter what they ask and don't get into a conversation with them. Just a simple "No thank you, Goodbye." They aren't "officers" as they are described, just licence salesmen/women and if they try the old "interviewed under caution" then forget it. ANYONE can interview ANYONE under caution- all it means is "I am going to ask you questions and I have told you I am making notes." Oh and if anyone asks to come into your house to check you're not watching- tell them no. They aren't police, they aren't bailiffs and they have no rights. As for Court orders... last year they got THREE Court orders to enter properties and they were all, so I believe, business premises.... Three out of say 30 million recognised home and business addresses? I think you're safe. They could only get a Court order if they had sufficient evidence to present to a Court that you were watching live tv- which you're not. Please don't be intimidated by these people, nor by the vile bbc. In ditching the tv licence, you are not only saving yourself some money but making it harder for the- quite frankly- dangerously out of control bbc to carry on funding p**0**iles, running our Country down and otherwise being a force for worse. You will find you are part of a group of people 100,000s strong and growing. I've read as many as 20% of tv licence payers of 1990s are no longer paying; some of those will be cheating the system, true, but most not.

And you answered my "wasn't it possible to take a direct flight to Aalborg Airport? Or was it just to expensive?" question in the video😂 OH, bye the way, the difference between Lidl and Føtex, is that Føtex is way more expensive😊, and Jomfru Ane gade is an almost legendary party street in Denmark, so rookie mistake booking that hotel😂🥳 Please come back for another visit, and not necessarily just Copenhagen. Now that UK is no longer in the EU Smyrill and other companies like that should start stopping at a UK port again in order to be able to sell tax free stuff on board. Tax free shopping was the THING which atttracted a lot of passengers to the ferries between Finland and Sweden back in the days. The ferries now stop at Åland, a demilitarized and "de-EU-fied" zone in Finland, but unfortunately tax free prices aren't very low anymore.

@@itseperkele181 unfortunately it's universal amongst the majority of bus and coach companies. They don't actually give you sufficient time to drive to time. It's either that or they flood it and you end up waiting around everywhere
@ciaramc292 күн бұрын
It's because the people designing the routes and timetables are clueless to how long it actually takes. They don't drive or haven't for years. It's even worse when it's a new route a politician has asked for and it's still not designed well enough to factor in those parts.

@@aitdirect9527 no worries, it was a geniune accident and no harm was done. It was a miscommunication and visibility issue situation. I was driving a lorry back then, we happened to stop at the same service area and had a talk and a laugh about the situation.
@derektaylor2941Күн бұрын
@@itseperkele181 that's actually good to read that outcome. We can all make mistakes, whether car, truck or self-loading-cargo (bus). When I first started in the industry (bus and coach) there was little animosity between bus/coach and HGV, but I've seen that grow over the years, which is sad when you consider that we're all driving big pieces of mechanical metal and all are capable of doing great damage if we get it wrong. ALL commercial drivers should be on the same side- ie us Vs dept for transport. As for racing around in buses- I'd have thought truck drivers were under similar pressures these days... pressure to get the last drop in even though your tacho is close to the limit, that you often get to your location on time only to be told to wait for loading/ unloading... then being stopped by the dreaded for being 1 minute over your tacho hours despite sitting in traffic for 90 minutes... Best wishes.

Yeah I thought the ship was tipping over too - they handbraked it in 😂 Aalborg looked nice! In the morning haha

Ahhh, good old Jomfru Ane Gade - quite probably the rowdiest street in all of the Nordics, and in top ten in Europe (Reeperbahn in Hamburg and Buchanan Street in Glasgow certainly give it a run for it's money!). Been rather... inebriated there more times than I care to (or remember) count!

Thanks for sharing your journey, Steve. I expected to see all the signs in Danish but a lot were in English. My surname has its origins in Denmark. Fel=valley and Stead= home. So my name means home in a valley .I tell people my ancestors were great danes.... On that note, I'll see myself out.

Love it Steve. That’s my kind of travel. I can’t drive and planes are not cheap. Never stopped me. Sure, you wake up too early, you have long layovers, you can be uncomfortable. But when you learn to adapt (and to say supermarket in 43 languages…), you make encounters and memories and you feel the travel.

It also used to go via Lerwick at one time.......

All the ways to travel west to Ireland, south to France, but no way nowadays to do the same east (or north) to Scandinavia. Given many of us Brits have Scandinavian roots, it’s nonsensical!

They even built the Lerwick ferry terminal as an International terminal, remembering all signs being in multiple languages….. then they cancelled the stop.
