A LOT is closed in Norway on sundays, even big supermarkets. They are quite old fashion about their sundays BUT maby the rest of us should copy that and go out hiking instead of beeing indoors too much. Hejja Norge🎉

In UK it was normal to be closed on Sunday and half day Wednesday until late 80s. Then it all changed under the guise of "progress." Now everyone wants to have those days off, but no one wants to lose the shops being open.

Bergen looks lovely. I wish the UK retained its old Sunday closing. It was so peaceful. These days all shops are open even on Bank holidays and Christmas.

I'm glad to say I've been there - which makes a change! We arrived late at night due to floods, and at 11 pm found the best fish soup ever being served at a small stall by the docks. I love the station. I never got up the mountain, though, so thanks!

Another great video. I love Steve's walkabouts - he comes across things that could easily be missed. Views of Bergen and the surrounds were stunning. Norway is an amazing country for scenery. Back in one of my favourite parts of the world (only behind Switzerland). I really like the way your adventures are as much about you learning about places as they are about showing destinations. @@janettesinclair6279 well in modern Swedish (still) they have the word gata, meaning road. We have this in the UK wherever you see Northgate, Westgate etc. But in Swedish gata is pronounced "yata", with a 'y' sound for the G. Hence we got our local corruption - Yatts Road, or "road road" 💕🤣

I had the joy of visiting Bergen last year...and did a lot of city trekking in pouring rain. But i was ready for it. 😄 Thank you for taking us up the cable gondola and on the walk! It was fun to be back in Bergen with you. Had to smile that you were conserving energy as you marched up to the rocky summit!

Steve, if you and Alicia ever have the opportunity to visit The Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina. I believe you’ll find beauty there that resonates with the spirit of Scotland's highlands. Many Scots boldly sought new beginnings in that region of the US before and after 1776, embracing the spirit of adventure that led to the birth of the USA.

Aw i studied in Bergen for a year 20 years ago. I walked up Ulriken and the one across from it. The trams weren't there then. I used to walk from the centre to my student room in Fantoft about 4 or 5 miles at least once a week. I love Bergen. Thanks for taking me down memory lane ❤

aye Steve - this time you caught me in the act (in a memory)... a bit over 10 years ago I met a really nice Norwegian girl here in Scotland, and there was a wee bit of flirtation going on, but it didn't lead to anything, except for small talk (shy me!), and she traveled on too quickly... never saw her again, but remember to this very day, that at the time she worked in that posh restaurant at the top station of that cable car, and I was super curious to see how it looks inside! So I was a bit distracted, while I watched you scrambling around on the rocks... sweet memories! 😎

One of the most beautiful towns in Europe. And you made it to the top! I stayed once in a hostel somewhere up there on a hill. The late evening view was amazing. Nowadays if I tried to walk up the hills they would bring a sack full of my bones within 15 minutes

You are correct with the old cable car kiosks. We had them until 2020 when they decided to upgrade it to the much bigger cable cars, opening in October 2021.

I spent a week in Bergen in September, it was wonderful. I walked up the mountain, it was very enjoyable. I also bought a 5 day pass fjordcard for the ferries and enjoyed trips up the 2 Fjords, I recommend it if you have the time, enjoy ferries and don't want to be restricted to the timetables of organised trips.
