This interview in 2016 got me to listen to Steve Martin’s audiobook. Amazing career. His standup career was short but he absolutely killed it. Reached the top and decided he wanted to do something else.

I went to see Steve Martin play the banjo and sing some songs with his band. It was one of the finest shows I ever went to. He's hilarious and talented.

This guy did Planes Trains and Automobiles with the Late great John Candy, and John Hughes at the directing helm. Arguably one of the best films of the 80s. If he did nothing else in his career that would have been a huge achievement anyway.

I saw Steve Martin at Alpine Valley near Whitewater WI., . Outdoor ampitheater, seating about 18,000 people, around 1978, long before giant TV screens at concerts. He opened with his "Magic Dime" trick. The rest of the show was even funnier.

With different roles, Steve Martin would have easily been a sex icon. Seriously, think of George Clooney, Sean Connery, and Sydney Poitier. Steve Martin has always been super handsome and charismatic in my eyes. Being funny and silly was just the icing on the cake.

That's actually brilliant in cities with popular bars that people come to any way. The club doesn't have to pay you. So they think why not. So long as their customers don't get al pissed about the cover charge and most will not. Some will watch the show and some will not. the ones that watch grow your audience.

I saw Steve at The Birdcage theater when I was a kid. He was so funny. The play he was in was not necessarily a comedy but he was the center of attention because he was being silly. People laughed at his facial expressions and movements.
