Steve Masakowski & Ted Ludwig Trio - What it Was

Such a cool song, I need to learn it. Great to see Steve and his erstwhile student Ted play together, with Ted seemingly showcasing here some of the language he picked up from his mentor. I hadn't heard about Steve until a few years ago when I stumbled upon a Peter Bernstein masterclass on KZbin given at Steve's jazz department at the University of New Orleans. Steve was playing with Peter and the student band and I soon found myself thinking, "Holy moly, who is that teacher cat?" I've been listening to his records ever since. He's obviously a big fish down there in New Orleans but still one of the unsung heroes in my opinion.

I had the privilege of hearing Steve back in the 80’s when I lived in New Orleans. He was the baddest cat in town then. Man, I knew how great Steve was but Ted killed it! Cool to see Steve enjoying Ted’s playing.

They make it sound so easy ~ i can hardly play 6 strings..
