A lot of people say they feel bad for Jonathan getting a raw deal from Nancy and Steve rekindling their suppressed feelings for each other, but the way I see it Jonathan had more of a stalker crush vibe towards Nancy where he mostly was drawn to her for her beauty and appeal, whereas Steve's love for her is more skin deep. I always thought that Nancy and Jonathan were brought together more out of circumstance rather than having a strong romantic connection. And I feel like Nancy pities Jonathan more than she actually loves him, while Jonathan also self pities himself as he feels she's out of his league. While Steve on the other hand is also prone to self loathing, he doesn't see Nancy as a prize to win or satisfy but someone he enjoys being with and pines for despite everything that's happened between them.

In all honesty, Steve was kind of an Ass in season 1, till like the last episode. But MANN he had an awesome character arc from then on. He is the designated protector for the kids, and he will risk getting beat up to keep them safe. He deserves happiness, even if its not with Nancy, he just deserves it. He's grown so much since the 1st season. I hope for the best for him.

THANK YOU! Even in the beginning of season 2 he was not a good boyfriend, did not know how to help Nancy in a time she needed it. Yes, Nancy was not innocent either and I do hate how she broke things off because she left it at that with no closure. In the end the relationship was an immature high school love. Both were to blame on the end. Nancy wanted to be someone she isn’t and hid and Steve let her/wanted her to be popular with him (but he did love her I believe).

Contrary to popular belief, Steve really wasn’t as bad of a guy in Season 1 as the Duffer brothers made him seem. Jonathan deserved to have bis camera broken. I’m not condoning what Steve did. It’s still not okay, but it was an understandable response to someone creeping around his house and taking pictures of his friends, house, and girlfriend. Then he obviously shouldn’t have allowed Tommy to spray paint what he said about Nancy, but again, he was angry. The main thing he did wrong was the stuff he said to Jonathan in the alley. If you really watch past what they picture Steve as, he’s a really good dude in Season 1. And season 2 he was a very good boyfriend and an even better person

Personally I love this troupe of breaking up, maturing and learning from past mistakes on both parties, and coming together again… don’t get why so many people are confused and mad when Steve even said it himself he was never over Nancy. ​@Midhun Murali Season 3 kind of showed the opposite no? they were fighting, and said they didn't understand each other anymore (since Nancy was facing a lot of sexism in the workplace, but Jonathan was desperate to keep the job because he doesnt come from a wealthy family). Later Jonathan only came back around cause he realized he was wrong, and Nancy's hunch was right. Meanwhile, Nancy cared way more about the story than what Jonathan wanted. And they never really genuinely resolved that. They just got over it cause they had other stuff to worry about. I personally think season 2 showed their strongest bond... while season 3 showed the cracks a bit more.

Eu shippava eles na temp 1, aí parei quando o Steve se mostrou um merda. Só que aí ele teve um crescimento incrível! Os roteiristas/diretores desenvolveram o personagem bem demais e ele virou um dos meus favs. Então voltei a shippar eles na temp 2 e tô assim até hoje. E tipo, pra mim, faz total sentido eles voltarem, a Nancy gostava tanto do Jonathan como do Steve, mas ficar com o S a lembrava da Barb e de tudo o que aconteceu, acabou que ela deixou de amar ele, só que ele nunca deixou. I love what the writers were trying to do with Jonathan and Nancy. And 'creepy' Jonathan was adorable in the beginning but he hasn't changed for the better or for the worse with this relationship.
