Suns fan here, I totally support the Booker tweets, dude hasn’t really shown he wants to compete, or at least any self awareness of what he needs to do to win. But to be honest I don’t really have hope for the sarvseeable future. PS Thanks for the visuals. Always thought this would be a good medium for you. The HBO show was too polished in my option you seem much more at ease in this setting.

Bill Simmons : Devin Booker is not top 10 under 25. I'd take Donovan Mitchell over him any day. I don't think Devin Booker is an all star caliber player. He kept playing at the end of a game where his team was down 12 with two minutes left. It's stat padding. He could get hurt. Then he proceeds to mock KOC for thinking Devin Booker has a lot of potential. Also Bill Simmons: This team USA is getting their asses kicked by Turkey and Australia. No one can score and everyone's inefficient. We could really use Devin Booker on team USA. He'd be unstoppable here. What a loser he must be for not playing on team USA. Injuries are irrelevant in the face of the INCREDIBLE value of playing in a competitive environment with Joe Harris and Mason Plumlee against Cedi Osman and Leandro Barbosa on their teams of nobodies. Playing against Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons in pickup games is useless. Developing your individual skills with a world renown trainer? Useless. He's probably 5'9". Getting to know your coach and teammates and resting your nagging injuries? Useless. I know Devin Booker's body more then he does. He's fine. He only played 82 games. I could handle that. Being able to experience being coached by Greg Popovich a second summer in a row is way more important that practicing with the coach you'll be playing for all season. Then Bill proceeds to list the mistakes Pop made these last few games. Bill doesn't understand NBA players because he's never played in the NBA. He doesn't understand the grind or that having a fast paced more athletic game filled with legal PEDs and record high verticals is putting more of a burden on players joints. Bill's perspective: "Players in the 80s and 90s played way harder defense and never complained about getting hurt or rest time" Modern NBA players are weak because they get season ending injuries without getting drop kicked in the face by Bruce Bowen. If bill doesn't understand something going on in the current NBA, he should really try asking the opinion of those who are currently in the NBA instead of forming false narratives and platitudes based on WATCHING BASKETBALL. He's never been in a high pressure situation in playing high stakes basketball before in his life. How can he say that playing in FIBA will always make a player better? This team USA is miles worse than the one Booker played for last season. And even with how shit it is, it's still probably one of the most talented teams in FIBA. What is Booker gonna gain when Pop benches Booker like he benched Fox? Everyone knows Popovich values defense over everything else. Is being there in the moment really more valuable for Booker's development than physically working on his game? Doesn't he think playing with his actual teammates and coach is more productive than 3 months of basic scrimmaging with guys he'll never play with again after the summer? Bill's never had millions of dollars and his entire business and brand invested in his own body before. If Devin Booker feels like he needs more time to heal his nagging injuries, why wouldn't Booker do that? Bill Simmons did the same thing to Kahwi as well. Made up a bunch of shit that he never really got hurt and that he was perfectly fine that year with the Spurs. Then he backtracks in this years finals when he says Kahwi clearly has nagging injuries in the same place he was hurt last time. And when Boogie and KD get hurt, what does he say? The media and public narrative pushed them to come back earlier to play for their teams. Guess what, Bill. You're the one pushing the media narrative. You don't know their bodies and you haven't seen the medical records. So stop making decisions for other people based on their health.

@w4ization
@w4ization 5 жыл бұрын
obviously you are slow in the head or just severely ignorant. Nash is extremely loyal. You must know nothing about him as a person. He WANTED to stay in Dallas. He WANTED to stay in Phoenix. It is not like these fools today like Durant, Lebron, A.D., etc. who just fled when their team would have done absolutely anything for them to stay. When your boss basically says they don't want you there or is willing to keep you only if you take a severe pay cut compared to what you can get elsewhere where the other company will not only pay you much more to do the same thing but constantly shows how much they want and need you and where you can have a great future? You would stay where you are unappreciated, unwanted and underpaid compared to everywhere else? That's not called being loyal, that's called being STUPID. Think before you post.

Bill Simmons’ take on Devin Booker not playing for Team USA is pure trash. Dude is such a clown. He picks on Booker for declining to play but doesn’t mention all of the other star players who declined to play (Harden, Beal, AD, McCollum). Stop it Bill. You’re making yourself look like a fool.

all the players u mentioned except beal are preparing for a long postseason with their respective teams so it makes sense that they rest to make deep playoff run. the suns aren’t going to the playoffs anyway so booker should play

Sean Anthony ok and that’s not Bookers fault. He’s a great player and does everything he can to win. Look at the rosters he’s had to play with the past three years. Abysmal. But what does the Suns being bad have to do with Booker HAVING to play in a meaningless FIBA tournament? I still don’t understand the outrage of Booker declining to play when again, MANY star players decided to decline. The whole bashing from the media of D Book is trash. What people also forget is that Booker has a history of injuries and said he doesn’t want to get hurt and wants to prepare for the season. You know, the games that actually matter... enough with this.

I think it's more that we have seen young players take a huge leap after playing in the summer with team USA. D rose, Westbrook, wade all used it as a spring board to an incredible season. Practicing all summer with other high caliber players raises your game and gets you in shape. Perhaps to a lesser extent with the weak team this summer
