Yeah I was about to comment that it´s so annoying when the interviewer feel they need to interrupt or just saying stuff like "Yeah, yeah, okay uhm hm." you know to show they are listening but this interviewer just listens and nods so show he is listening and by doing so it´s so much easier to get immersed in the story Steve-O is telling, very good interviewer.

What an amazing spokesman for recovery. For those who haven't found it yet, I hope this video leads at least one person to seek it. "Recovery starts with an admission of complete defeat." Yes. "Recovery begins with finding hope in hopelessness."
@HobiesGarageBBQ6 жыл бұрын
???? Complete defeat? What about the countless people who have quit drugs and alcohol? They defeated their addictions. AA has a less than five percent success rate. This antiquated insistence that recovery starts with defeat only works for a small percentage of people. It's frustrating for people to preach that there is only one way to "recover", when in reality, there are many ways. Just like a diet won't work for on person but will for another.

@@HobiesGarageBBQ Some people aren't able to stop unless tey have some kind of program to hang on to.. that's the reality of it. Everyone's different.
@HobiesGarageBBQ6 жыл бұрын
@@ryan.6594 Well that was my point. Everyone is different. Many people don't have to admit defeat or use a higher power. Many people *do* fight and not give up and overcome addiction, but there's a vocal group out there that runs to every video like this and starts proclaiming that there is only one way for everyone. It's not true. 12 step programs are definitely not for everyone. Or, even, for most people. They have a five percent success rate - admitted to by Steve-O himself in this very video. If you stood in front of a freeway getting ready to cross it, and someone informed you that 95 percent of people attempting to cross it failed, would you cross it? If someone told you about a diet plan with a five percent success rate, would you try it?

I am 11 years sober this year, even now, everything Steve-o says holds true regarding hopelessness, i was there, i had to admit to myself that i was worth more than booze, it is hard to face yourself when you realize what you have become/done. I ended up writing a letter to my booze, as if ending a friendship with someone toxic, didn't know what to write at first but when i let go and got mad at booze/myself for 'our' actions and the time i wasted/friends i lost / poisoning my body, i was the best feeling in the world to let it ALL out in a private manner(i was essentially grieving)Doing this one thing, for me, changed my mindset towards alcohol for good and i said my goodbyes. Sobriety is a choice we make each day and some days are harder than others but it's an amazing feeling when you realize how empowering independence from alcohol can be. We were all a bunch of fuck ups ourselves but this release as well as his PCP video were really sobering and sad for all of us. It honestly helped us curb our own usage to a degree. We still had to reach our own rock bottoms, some of us never did and I had to cut them out of my lives for my own mental and physical health, but seeing Steve-O basically document his own mental decline due to rampant drug use and stupid behavior and where it lead...shit...that was actually pretty powerful. steeve is an example that its never too late to change or wish to lead a better life. Good friends help but when someone is in a bad ministate like that sometimes the only ones who can help are themselves. If one is not willing to better themself FOR themself then they will most likely never get better

Im still in active addiction to alcohol and heroin and it feels as if I am completely out of control, like I am completely helpless, im afraid for my life. The only hope I have now is that this means my recovery is about to start. But of course my worst fear is having to put the work in.

Steve-o should be extremely proud of what he's accomplished, and thankful for friends like Johnny. And once again Graham delivers the goods effortlessly. There are so many journo's and "interviewers" that need to take notes on how Graham does his craft. He's prepared but not forced in his questions. He's patient, and gets more with less.

if you’ve never been through drug/alcohol addiction, you don’t truly understand how difficult this is. the acute withdrawals aren’t even the worst of it either, it’s when you go through PAWS, (post acute withdrawal symptoms,) is where it’s the absolute toughest, because like Steve-O said, you struggle to find a reason not to use. you start to convince yourself that just one time won’t hurt and you won’t do it again after that, it’s a miserable feeling, but once you let those cravings pass and you distract yourself enough, it feels so good. it takes time to fully recover, A LOT of time, so thank God Steve-O had so much strength. the worst part is not the physical withdrawals, it’s the mental.

Steve-O, As you were seen on Mtv back in the days I just thought of you what you were ought to be: a crazy guy. I didn't understand why guys would do things like you and your buddys did. Today, as I got to know a little bit more of your lifestory and what you've been through I can better relate to this emptiness you must have felt your entire life..... the amount of self-reflection and awareness you're capable of, is an inspiration. You've found your gift and are honest as fuck with yourself! Most impressive to me is the fact that you're taking responsibility....all of it. No blaming - just understanding where your habits came from. The strength of character you've got makes you a true hero. Keep it up! Stay strong and sober. You are an inspiration.

I have struggled with drug addiction in various forms since I was 15 (Im 34 now so almost 20 years). I started with weed and alcohol (although strangely enough alcohol is the one chemical I never actively sought out) then quickly went to cocaine by the time I out of high school. When I was a senior I ended up having kidney stones and was exposed to the world or prescription opiates. After that it was just a steady downward spiral into shooting heroin. I have gotten sober a few times over the years but never for more than a year or so. In the last year of my heroin addiction I ODed 3 times. I was finally forced to get treatment which I’m glad I was because I wanted to stop but just couldn’t mentally and physically on my own. This time around I agreed to go on suboxone even though I was weary about just trading one addiction for another but I will say suboxone has given me a chance to live a more positive life. I’ve worked the same job for over a year now and haven’t shot/taken illicit opiates in the same amount of time which I’m sure proud of and feel like treatment did save my life. I started on 12 mgs of suboxone but over the course of the last 6 months I have gone down to 2 mgs so I’ll be the first stay it is a lot easier wean off of suboxone than it is heroin (it’s not a breeze but doable). Now I need to be honest in the last few months I have started to smoke weed again after the break up of long term relationship in which I hold a lot of guilt over. I totally get what Steve-O was saying about wanting to just end it after having to face all the horrible and disgraceful actions you did in your active addiction. After watching this it just reaffirms that I even need to stop smoking cannabis permanently and perhaps even go to treatment again because the last time I feel like my main focus was just getting off heroin and if I could do just that it would be enough. It’s not. Thank you for posting this interview it definitely made an impact on someone struggling today

It's not the weed that you need to stay away from, you need to stay away from anything that get's you high. You are chasing the high. For you stopping at just weed isn't enough for you.
