Geesus, I mean just...WOW. Steve Perry. Amazing person. Decided the "Rockstar life" wasn't for him and left Journey because he only cared about the music. Not the girls, not the drugs, not the money, just the music. Unbelievable respect for him and this effort by his vocal range is just, TIMELESS.

I don't know for sure. He seemed to struggle with the desire to sing. Did all the " stuff " get in the way? How h a rd to have a normal loving relationship and not have it all fall apart. The theme of so many of his songs is love, heart break and loss. He started to get caught up with the scene and had to escape. Did he get lost in the stuff? His mom passing. The band fighting. He knows. We just wonder.

I heard this song the other day and I instantly became emotional. Steve Perry was one of my mom's favorite singers and this was one of her favorite songs. I remember her playing the "Street Talk" album many times, singing along to "Foolish Heart" and "Oh, Sherrie" (another one of her favorites.) She passed away a few years ago and any time I hear a favorite song of hers I think about how much I miss her and how quickly time passes. I'm grateful for the time I did have with her and I cherish all the wonderful memories connected with the music she (and I) loved.

I'll up that the other 100th of a %. But, gotta say that holds true for most of the icons of music from the mid 20th century right up to about the last 15 years of it and then the music just died in the hearts of the performers...it was all about the money and the moves or something. But it just veered off into repetitive words and a beat for working out to on exercise video. Gone were the masters of the industry. There were a few here and there that had the soul and heart and they are still with us today. But nothing like these. Maybe predjudiced, but I listen to all kinds of genres. Used to work in the distributing of entertainment music and then movies and it's always these who's words crop up in everyday conversations that add flair and perspective, because they're just as relevant now as they were then. I've even heard sermons where priests/pastors use their lyrics to make a point - and the congregations, a mix of young and old alike - nod, knowing exactly what is meant by the reference. Ran a daycare in the early 80's - 2002 and the adults those kids became, to this day, will listen to, and prefer, these artists to their own generation's. Maybe had something to do with not spending your hard earned money on owning a classic, or because it's free to download; it was cheap and not supportive of the artists, so they did one hit wonders and vanished. ?? Not sure, but as the group America once sang...bye-bye ms american pie I drove my Chevy to the levy but the levy was dry. Them good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and Rye, singing this'll be the day that I die.... the day the music died.

I heard this song playing in Taco Bell the other day, and I was instantly transported back to a time where all the worries of my life were completely gone for a brief moment, and all the memories of my dearly departed dad flashed before me, since he was the one who first introduced me to this wonderful song when I was a kid, the day I walked into his makeshift art studio at our house and he was listening to this while he was painting! It seems anytime I hear this song playing, there's just this sudden feeling of peace & tranquility that comes over me, and all the negativity in this world goes right out the window ... at least until the song is over! 😩 THANK YOU Steve Perry! 👏 There will never be another voice like yours!
