Started singing at 3 years old. Now it all makes sense. He was BORN to sing and I wish we could still see and hear him. What a loss!! Come back Steve, please!!

How humble and non-conceited can a person be? Does he not realize that he truly is the voice of rock and roll? After hearing this, just makes my love him that much more. What a great person...

Thanks Stephen for having the courage to follow your heart and doing what you needed and wanted to do. Remember the mountaintop in Hawaii? That's when you knew. You've been through and weathered so much, I am so proud of you, and have been since the late 70's. We are the same age. I still remember listening to "Feeling that Way", cruising Hollywood Blvd in my convertible, you looked over and smiled at me turning your head around as I drove away! Thanks Stephen, Love and Blessings! Diana

Yes he does! When I watched the Houston "Escape" DVD & others from 'back in the day' I voted his the "Shiniest Hair in Rock"! What did he do to it to make it so gorgeous, shining, smoothe---and when he sends it flyin' around my heart goes with it!

I'ts good to hear someone who actually understands a singer here. Your entire body is your instrument and the physical strength required to do what Steve did is enormous. And it's not that the voice deteriorates, it settles with age and becomes mellower. And yes, over time, the highest notes just go. In other genres of music like blues or jazz singers gain points for the maturity and style of performance, the passion. I don't think most people would appreciate that fully without your insights.

wow!loved the comment steve made about Bruce Springsteen and that being the coming of christ for him-couldn't help but laugh at that,if I ever met Steve that is exactly how it would feel for me-lol. It's good to see that he hasn't let the business go to his head and he sees things just as we average joe people out here whom adore him do and I just love that about him-he's very humble and modest and stays true to himself. WE LOVE AND MISS YA STEVE!

OK, this just MADE MY DAY!! Steve sounds absolutely WONDERFUL and AWESOME! With the recent realease of his X2 set (consisting of the "Street Talk" and "FTLOSM" classic CD's), the recent news articles mentioning him writing/co-writing new music, and now this impromptu interview, I really believe that Steve will be singing again really soon. Since his birthday is coming up soon (he'll be the big 6.O. - 60 years YOUNG & HANDSOME :-), that would be wonderful time to release something new!

He's been "ok" for a long time, & very busy, he just doesn't advertise it. He's been producing, singing backup vocals for other musicians for YEARS but he doesn't make a big deal about it, like "Hey! Here I am!" He's simply been an extremely private guy for a very long time, doing what he loves most but still trying to have a quiet, normal life.

Geddy Lee from Rush may have the same range as Steve Perry. Geddy Lee may also be in his 60's.
@chriselin0116 жыл бұрын
first of all, journey was journey even before perry came in, and he left, so its just natural for the left ones to look for replacements. it wasnt arnel who wanted to be the "one" replacing perry, it was JOURNEY who wanted him in so dont curse him. it was journey's decision and they made the right one picking this new talent.

@chriselin0116 жыл бұрын
You have got to be kidding to think that Perry can sing the way he used to lol. It's called vocal chords for a reason, it's part of your physical being. Human beings deteriorate physically overtime lol. Just watch the video of SP singing DSB after the White Sox won the series a few years back and you'll see that "the voice" is gone lol. If Perry sang with Journey today, it would be an injustice to his legacy and you'd be a fool to think otherwise.
@semitar616 жыл бұрын
Of course Steve Perry is a good guy but for those who are saying "Steve is so humble and all that"...hmm not really, When he first joined Journey yes he was but he eventually ended up controlling every aspect of the band and its personnel. Thats why Steve Rollie left in the first place.
