I saw Steve Reich perform this years ago at Zellerbach in Berkeley. It was breathtaking. But I did wonder how his hands didn’t hurt afterwards. The two guys sat opposite and facing each other in regular chairs with no scores. It was all done from memory. Amazing.
@oliverdiamond6594 Жыл бұрын
i mean, it's not that hard to remember, one person just does the same beat repeatedly, and the other one also repeats the beat, but sets it back a count every 8 bars. so all that really needs to be memorized is the beat.

@sebastianschweigert71174 жыл бұрын
I think it wouldn't be too hard if you partially ignore how the piece is constructed (shifting the pattern). Instead, you can just remember how each "section" sounds, and then learn how your clapping fits into that section. Each section is pretty distinct, so I don't think that would be too hard. At least, that's how I would approach it.

Thanks as always to gerubach's scrolling project. I think the way to read it more easily is to have the red bar split so that the music stays stationary, which is what most of us are used to. Then we can see the red bars follow each other. Of course, the red bar stays still in other gerubach scores, but they are not as difficult to read and follow. In general. That is, sometimes the scores are harder to read, depending on the choices made for the animation. One last thing: The issue of stationary bar and scrolling music reminds me of my very limited experience with Guitar Hero. I have been a professional musician since 1972, and I find it VERY difficult to recalibrate from the perspective of Guitar Hero.
