Just the best Cajun band ever, followed them all the way back to the the epic days of Escoheque Rhode island, ,they still bring tears to my eyes.

These guys came to play in the tiny french village I live in during a Cajun festival organised by some of the villagers. The festival lasted a week and was so much fun. They also gave Cajun music lessons which were a blast, that's how I learned to play Cajun fiddle. Ah quels souvenirs merveilleux !

In 2003 I fell in love with Cajun music when I really first heard it at NOLA jazz fest. I fell in love with the sound AND the look of the Zydeco Accordion-so much so that I ordered one custom made by Larry Miller (Bon Cajun Accordion) who had a stand at jazz fest. I had to decide what key I wanted my accordion, I did a search on the internet and Steve Reilly’s name came up (I had no idea who he was). So I emailed Steve and he was gracious enough to answer me. I ordered what he suggested (C). Well he was 100% correct since the beginners music I would learn to play was in the key of C. I wound up going back to jazz fest some 12 times in 15 years and was lucky to see Steve and the boys every time I went-Always a great performance!! I still have my Zydeco accordion-it’s a beautiful work of art, but only take it off the shelf around Christmas time, and play the few songs I’ve learned. Listening to him now makes me want to take my accordion off the shelf and spend more time with it.

A beautiful story. Thanks for sharing. I hope you're playing more tunes now...

Zydeco music is mostly played on piano accordions these days. If you have a button accordion it’s a Cajun accordion. Cajun and zydeco are related but are very different.

David G, I was wondering why you were leaving the band. What you said about why makes perfect sense to me. I am aware of the contribution you have made behind the scenes with the band. You are a freakin musical genius. Thanks for all the melancholy/happpy/haunting sounds over the years. Hope you keep creating as you steal of the the land of low key low maintenance musicianship. Enjoy your solitude brother.

Far and away the video I play the most on KZbin! Select one of the HD resolutions (720 or 1080) and connect your HDMI port to your home theatre system. If you can't make it to a Steve Riley gig, this is the next best thing. Looking forward to enjoying (dance, dance, dance) these guys again the next time I'm in SW Louisiana!
