GRAHF This is the reason people loved Superior Spiderman. I hated it because Peter was "killed" but he himself didn't become evil or something. We just got someone else living Spiderman's life and changing but realizing he is not Spiderman to the level Peter was and came back. But this is using Steve, OUR Steve the thing he's always stood for even in the face of Thanos ....and flipping it on its neck

I would think people are upset because of how disrespectful it is to the creators of Cap who are jewish. They created Cap to be a direct foil to Nazism which is what hydra represents. So to turn around and make Cap Hydra is kinda disrespectful. The story is amazing but just the whole thing is kinda ehhhhh.

Except that whole "fear instead of freedom" thing. right? But hey, why would a country where the potential president says "I'll have a talk with white people about their racistness" be bad. Surely fixing the obvious racism that fester in the heart of all white people, or a president that believes all white people harbor secret racist feelings and that she can cure them with a talk is much better than free speech. Marvel has gone out of their way to be as one sided as possible, weighing in on politics at every opportunity. That should scare you, since Hydra's mission, specifically was "Working behind the scenes" and here we have a behind the scenes attempt to influence the minds of readers. If it's bad for Hydra, why is it OK for Marvel? Right, because people like you think Trump is a Nazi for some reason, so it's OK. Let Marvel make an analogue Hillary villain and watch the outrage. (But we know that will never happen, don't we)
@CNNBlackmailSupport8 жыл бұрын
It's not eerie. It's planned. This isn't a case of accidental things, it's a targeted hit by Marvel. You don't see all the shows that have been doing the same thing? They all have a "Trump clone" that hates everyone or is a white supremacist or a nazi. Sure, it's just art, but really? Where are the Hillary clones? The Dilbert creator said hillary was bad and they boycotted his work, called him a nazi, and threatened his life. Comics are supposed to be different from the real world, but they still manage to get their political views in your face. Because when it's the correct side, it's all about "It's just comics, can't you take a joke?" and when it's the other side, it's "hey, that's bullying and this is no place for politics!"
@Citadel_Of_My_Thoughts8 жыл бұрын
Maybe most people actually don't like a slimeball like Trump rather than it being a conspiracy theory. I don't expect you to take that to heart though. Trumpsters thrive on conspiracy theories.
@travisdk848 жыл бұрын
Morenath Blanco yeah i see this from you trumpians quite a lot. Like when trump says "where are all the women accusing obama of sexual assault?" It's because there arent any. The reason why you dont see any evil hitleresque characters in pop culture that are a reflection of hillary is because hillary is not a megalomaniac demagogue spouting racist rhetoric. That's why. It's not some grand conspiracy or liberal bias on EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL and in EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of pop culture is because your candidate Trump is a monster. Jesus christ wake up and smell the coffee or just drink the kool aid already

Jonathan Luoto That never mattered because the capacity to do damage that hydra steve rogers had was so great that no matter how many small skirmishes and battles he fought against hydra, the end game would lead to the the demise of shield and rise of hydra. And all the while was still doing countless nefarious activities and missions in secrecy that greatly benefitted hydra
@joluoto8 жыл бұрын
Nerwrax15 Speaking of which, is Hydra existing in the 1920s a result of secret wars? Weren't they formed by Red Skull and von Strucker during WW2.
@SamoanSamurai8 жыл бұрын
+Jonathan Luoto It is actually really simple. He stop's Hydra's projects that "not important" or ones that are not deemed necessary. He informs the higher ups on anything he is engaged in so Hydra has time to move or remove anything they might want to keep. A double agent can provide a lot of things like letting people "get away" when they need them to. Also its probably skipped over so the story can be more fluid.

Been reading each issue as they come out, really liked the writing, it's been so well done and man, it actually makes Civil War 2 somewhat enjoyable. Remember when people were like "marvel is backpedaling" as if comics aren't planned ahead of time, especially with us pretty much having a basic idea of what was going on thanks to Red Skull during Standoff. Also reading the latest issue, I can see how it isn't "brainwashing", one line came up, the war is coming, something 2 other books or more have mentioned during this week's release. Something is coming as of course Rob and anyone reading Ultimates knows (New Avengers too), Eternity is chained. It may seem that either Kobix knows this too, or of course there is more going on. Just super excited to see where this all leads. Sure Steve is Hydra right now, but not Red Skull's hydra, but a better one, one which still has that Steve Rogers ideals put into it but more twisted. Another thing, everything from Secret Wars 2015 is either in or making its way into All New All Different Marvel in some form. Cap's thing would basically be loosely related to the Hail Hydra book.

(somewhere inside the offices of Marvel) "Hey Jim-bob?" "Yeah Billy-bob?" "Our comic sales have been dropping really badly for the past several years. What do you think that we should do about that?" "Well, we could reverse the policies which drove away most of the fan-base; hire more women editors, writers, and artists in order to bring back the female demographic (which is 50% of the population, so that's a large untapped pool, right there). And we could relaunch the kid-friendly titles like we used to have with the Star line in the '80s, so that our industry could get new readers (the 7-to-10-year-old range) , who would gradually move on to more mature titles as they got older. And we could restructure our distribution model by putting comics back on racks in the checkout aisles of supermarkets and drugstores, where kids too young to drive, could access them, and beg their parents to buy them as they waited in line. And if a lot of those titles were kid-friendly, the parents would be a lot more likely to say "yes" ". "Or we could just save ourselves all of that hassle, and create a huge controversy by giving the fans a huge middle-finger by completely destroying the history and morality of the most patriotic, well-known, and well-loved Marvel character in history. I'm sure that it couldn't possibly backfire, and cause many of our already dwindling customers to drop the book (and maybe Marvel titles altogether) in disgust." "Yeah! That's a great idea!"

Charlie Channel Cap has never been more popular thanks to his movies, that seem to get great treatment from Marvel and Disney, so there was going to be backlash by taking THE individual that represents the American Ideal. Because his history wasn't actually rewritten, only his memories.
@zetarise93768 жыл бұрын
Also because the multiverse right now is in the 8th cycle, everything is memories as far as we're concerned prior to Secret Wars. People seem to forget that everyone was essentially reborn in a new universe that has changed in different forms. As far as we're concerned, the history only goes for over 8 months after Secret Wars

+doctor leak - Actually, it is heavily suggested that Kobik reached into the past, had the woman become part of his history, setting Cap on a path to Hydra indoctrination. A different upbringing led him to the long game of fighting Hydra all the same publicly, but behind the scenes seeding conflict between heroes. Things haven't changed in the MU because essentially everything played out the same way we remember it, without knowing Cap was a sleeper agent. The only other caveat is as +Zeta Rise mentioned, there are slight differences because of the new cycle of the universe. Which is deeper than some realize because in accordance with Secret Wars meaning there are slight differences to history, Kobik caused a difference to history by altering Cap's past; hence holding the theme of ANAD to be true.

I honestly think that an approach similar to DC's "rebirth" would be great right about now. Return everything back to it's status quo from the cosmic landscape all the way down to street-level while simultaneously keeping all the newly introduced characters giving them their own stories. That way the veterans can be appeased as well as the newcomers.

Actually I'm kinda tired that most "good" stories are about heroes fighting heroes, heroes dying and coming back to life one to many times, heroes going bad then good then bad then good again. I'm tired of Marvel/DC telling the same stories again and again with minor changes. If you like it, I respect that, and yes, its an interesting twist, but Marvel writers had a "fail-safe" if people hated it. This is how events in Marvel/DC are written: Step 1: Apocalypse. Step 2: Some minor and some important heroes die. Step 3: Heroes vrs Heroes just because. Step 4: Plot Twist-->a.- Alternate Reality b.- Supreme Being Controlling Everything c.- Magical Stones Step 5: Everything can be fixed in an instant and returned almost to normal and nothing happened. Everyone is alive and well for the most part. Step 6: Rinse and repeat. PS: Great video. Very well explained. Actually you have the most comprehensive guide to comic development and story. Congrats.

There have been too many time travel/reality is being messed with stories thrown out willy-nilly the last few years. I'll be glad when SOME kind of status quo calms down the landscape a bit. Hopefully, the cosmic cube angle will get people to quit with the death threats to the writer. Good story/bad story....People shouldn't have their lives threatened. It works itself out in the end.

@galenmarek71078 жыл бұрын
The thing is, it's not interesting in the sense that Cap himself is interesting again. It's interesting in the sense that they essentially made him a villain.

This was my reaction entirely. I've always been on the side that Cap' was very.... "pure" and just kinda 'eh'. Knowing that he's a manipulator is very interesting.
@justinbetts47578 жыл бұрын
I always liked the idea of a character who is pure and good and isn't beyond the ramifications that standing for your principles causes, unlike Superman who can do whatever he wants and no one really can stop him if his morals fly in the face of the law.

This story arc is one of the best from Marvel or DC this year (possibly the best). Rob, I suggest you read the Captain America: Sam Wilson and Uncanny Avengers comics (if you haven't yet) because they expand on this as well, plus, they are amazing stories.

I am sorry to disagree with you, but this story is absolute crap. Pretty much just like every other major arc coming out of Marvel lately. I don't like Captain America, in fact, I hate him as a character almost as much as I hate Batman and Iron Man. But regardless of how much the writers who've been in charge of Rogers for the past several years may have turned him into a right-wing sycophant, this latest stunt I find to be insulting to the essence of the character, his decade-long history, and his fans. They've managed to turn Steve Rogers into Captain Nazi-lite. And that's just not kosher.

it will depend on the ultimate resolution of how it ends more than anything else. if for example he turns back and everyone knows he was being manipulated by a cosmic cube because lets face it cosmic reality warping is kinda a thing that does happen, it will also depend on how the superhero community is after civil war because right now its kinda a mess
@josephsalazar78778 жыл бұрын
I don't like when you're trying to rewrite history and indoctrinate people if that is what they're trying to do. I don't agree with it, I don't like hidden agendas. Trying to socially corrupt people. Just say it like it is. If you have an agenda and say so, Don't use good characters to do bad things. Don't get me wrong I like good storytelling just don't mess with the core of a character.

I don't know if you were already aware, but Daniel Whitehall was a part of the comics before he was in Agents of SHIELD. Daniel Whitehall was the real name of Kraken, a guy who trained recruits for Hydra before being taken down in the Secret Warriors comic during the Dark Reign era of Marvel comics.

hahhaha. Even Captain America's been feminized. He's father is a worthless Bum now, that's how you start off every contemporary story, a bad father and a loving mother BS, And then there's a VERY POWERFUL Cosmic cube who is an innocent little Girl. How many incredibly powerful woman now in Marvel can alter the Universe? This is not Good story ComicsExplained, this is just pandering to a certain demographic.
@erikponciano8 жыл бұрын
Phatmlg pro-man an alcoholic dad is one thing, Matt Murdock has one. A feminist dad is a not only a Drunk, he also have to be a useless bum, He has to beaten up by a woman. He has to be abandoned by the good mother. Oh yeah, and most importantly, he have to beat up on his WIFE to drive the point home, in case anybody else thinks he's not so bad.

@TechnicolorGhosts8 жыл бұрын
erikponciano this isn't about Steve being abused it's about his mom being abused. Women kill more kids but steve's mom isn't abusive but it's more or less law in fiction that if you have a drunk father either you or your mom is getting abused. And if your going to disregard facts you provided (the first link) just because it disproves your point then boy are you kinda a moron.

I'm sorry Rob, I don't care what they did good, but I *cant* like this run. And I cant watch this video. Rob, as someone who has followed Marvel for quite some time, I find your analysis and relation of these stories to the actual history that inspired them to be amazing. I also appreciate the fact that you allow people to draw their own conclusions. I think Hydra Cap makes sense given the real life history of things like Operation Paperclip. I think its Marvel trying to allude that sometimes the paragons we come to love can have ulterior motives or dark sides we just don't see until its too late. The sweeping changes of several heroes is something i feel is a good thing. Comics has been such a singular realm as far as audience for a very long time. And print comics are a dwindling industry. Blaming the writers for trying to include people who wouldn't necessarily have been reaching out to read these comics is like asking for Marvel to just die. Think about in these terms: if you're in danger, does the race or sex of the person helping you out of danger really matter? I think its awesome what's being done. Its kinda art reflecting life.

@FoScoJo6 жыл бұрын
When all of this was going down, I was so hoping that it would work out that the comic story was going to tie into the "Agents of SHIELD" story about Aida and the Framework. There was also the parallels between the new Steve Rogers background with the abusive father and Fitz's abusive father. There were several touchpoints between these stories, like Whitehall as you pointed out.
@awashington84478 жыл бұрын
the origional story arc of CW2 has gained alot of negative feedback. However, the missing piece was the Steve Rogers Hydra element, which takes the story to another level. NOW it's a great story, with the glue being CA that holds everything together. Can't wait for all of the story to come out
@MrPingn8 жыл бұрын
I think it is exciting and interesting. I had a similar "Oh no! This is gonna be bad." feeling. But not bad as in a bad story. I enjoy alter history stories of all kinda. What if's and such. Like Man in the High Castle. What will the good people do to change things back to the good we know? Will things return to good? Will Cap find his way to good? Will the other heroes stop Hydra? It's fun.
