In Superman The Animated Series, Superman dressed up as Batman after finding out Bruce Wayne got mind controlled by Brainaic. During that time, he strengthened Batman's reputation by using his super strength and super speed that terrified the Gotham's rogue gallery.

It’s funny cause this was the beginning idea for a Superman/Batman role reversal. In a way this story sets up Batman getting Superman’s powers not once, nor twice but three time and two of them are elseworld stories while one is part of the main DC universe

I honestly would love to go back and see this revisited and this story and world and characters actually fully realized and fleshed out I think there's alot of cool story telling potential here plus it would give us a chance for a whole new twist on the rouges galley. The Speeding Bullets universe could definitely be something worth fleshing out more and I would enjoy it

I would love to see a cross blend between the two. A Superman who has Batman's fears and insecurities but has all the power of Superman. But he still has that Superman kindness to him, the one that often gets overlooked by Batman's writers. Someone who's kind and warm but never able to really trust himself around people for fear of being hurt. Not broody but slow to commitment.

There was a world’s finest trade paperbacks story back then. The Banchee. Switched their emotions. And Batman had Superman’s empathy and supes had Batman’s ruthlessness. Each lost their effectiveness as heroes and had to overcome their new “personalities “ to defeat the Banchee. .

I've always said I've wanted this story redone. I feel like Alfred could have a more prominent role, being the one to properly nurture Bruce's powers as he grows up instead of gaining all the powers as an adult. Vicki Vale could've fulfilled the role of Lois Lane quite easily in this story. I never really liked Lex/Penuin/Joker hybrid, Metahuman versions Batman villains (like a Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde Two Face or a reality warping Riddler) would've been dope and would've brought out the detective side of Batman. Now I'm just entering into full blown fan fic but the bat family would be dope, my picks would be Conner Kent as Nightwing, Kara Zor-El as Batgirl, Kenan Kong as Red Hood, Mon El as Red Robin, half Kryptonian Damien Wayne for the final Robin, John Henry Irons as Signal, Kara (Powergirl) as Batwoman, Otho-Ra and Osul-Ra can both take the mantle of Orphan (I just prefer orphan over her other personas)

joe chill going blind from a heat vision attack sounds like an insane origin story for a new villain. i hope he doesnt sleep on it, theres a million ways that could go, like stealing the batman persona after bruce discards it or becoming an entirely new villain. hell just the fact that there is no batman anymore means someone might take up the cowl, and then superman has to deal with that, or not.

I actually mentioned this story on a different thread on KZbin some weeks ago about the elseworlds story where Batman and Superman are essentially the same person. How about this for an elseworld's story? 1. Based on the version (post crisis) of the mythos where his powers don't manifest until his teens (puberty) and until then he pretty much seems like a regular child. 2. He is adopted by the Kents as the regular version of the story but the Kents put off telling him that they adopted him and make him think they are his biological parents. As dishonest as that is explaining to him that he is technically a space alien from another planet and not a human being is a lot to throw on a child and they wanted to wait until he was older. They even hid his space ship under the ground where he could not find it without his X ray vision (which had not manifested yet). 3. His parents die in a tragic accident of some kind, maybe car accident or something and he ends up in the foster care system. He is unlucky and has abusive foster parents who neglect him and he ends up running away a lot and getting into trouble. 4. Eventually he winds up in juvenile jail and is treated terribly by the guards and other inmates and ends up with many psychological problems from losing his parents and being abused and being jailed. 5. When his powers kick in he becomes ruthless and basically DECLARES WAR ON THE WORLD.

You know, yes, this comic could have been more fleshed out, but I love it. I loved Lois's narration and I think her presence in this story is my favorite aspect of the story. It's why this story works for me. I liked the commentary on the ruthless vigilante archetype. To me, this Batman isn't Batman. he's just a child playing out this fantasy of punishing the bad man who killed his mother and father. I do wish it had been more than one issue, because there is so much more I want to know about this universe and I love this version of Lois so much and wish we could have gotten to know her better. In fact, this Lois is my favorite Lois Lane, ebcause she's so much more than just the damsel in distress. here, she's Bruce Wayne's moral compass. You have to wonder why this Alfred did not take on that role.

4:07 that's Batman's character, most people don't realize it. Batman is heavily flawed but is a hero despite his flaws, that's what makes his story so compelling. Batman, at his core, is a child who feels guilty about his parents death. This is the same story as just showing that if Bruce had power's they'd corrupt him. One of the most famous lines,( absolute power, corrupts absolutely)This is just another story showing us that Bruce is too unstable to have power's. Doesn't really change the base characters in anyway, just further pushes that Bruce is mentally unstable. He is btw, if he assumes that killing Joker is equivalent to killing every rogue, then he's mentally insane. Batman is not a good person, and a Clark raised like him won't become a good person. Not very surprising, Bruce is an amazing father, but he is 100% a terrible person.

The problem with a one-shot is that the story needs to move fast, and I dont believe the book was double sized or even had some extra pages (I have it but its been a while since I read the story) so to tell the entire back story and rush through the Batman portion of the book felt like we got cheated out of more. If we had gotten 2-3 issues I think DeMetteis could've told a better story. I loved the SuperBats design and Barreto's artwork, dude should've gotten the regular Batman or Superman gig after this.
