I like Steve’s focus on the long term viability of the club. Yes, work needs to be done, but there’s no point in doing anything for this season. I expect the summer will see a lot of activity. The Sens will have a decent amount of cap to spend.

I'm okay with the Sens non movement at the trade deadline, but it needs to be corrected this off season. Not just corrected by the front office, but the players need to play up every game.

If Dorion and Melnyk were still running the show I would give up. But I feel that both Michael and Steve know what it will take to be that competitive team. And to be fair I think they wanted to fire both Dorion and DJ during the summer but they arrived in the sale of the team too late in the summer, so if for example DJ was gone in the summer we probably would of been in a better spot now.@@Nomad4182

The only trade the Sens did was with Tarasenko. This trade was a token of respect for Vlad by giving the opportunity to move back with his family in Florida. The return was only two mid round draft picks, which seems to be a low short term return. Vlad was great for the team as a Sens. Trading him to his first choice destination showed class. This trade will give this management a reputation of respect towards their players, which will be a long term gain.

Fuck moral victories we've missed the playoffs for 6 straight seasons. Florida's 1st rounder was gonna be late anyways and I would've much preferred that over 2 players that might never play.

I like the point that they didn't do too much, they got rid of Taresenko which had to happen regardless because of his contract and they got back wasn't horrible considering Staios' hands were tied with his full nmc. It better to not do too much and wait till off season and look for new coach and that. The problem with Dorion was he was too aggressive and always making changes that didn't suit the structure of the team.. this new management is looking like the real deal.

Gonna be an interesting summer for ya Steve. This team isn’t as close as people think they are, especially in playing in the Atlantic where Boston and Tampa never seem to go away. Detroit will only get better and better, Buffalo has a bright future as well. Need another top 6 winger now that Vladdy is gone, goaltending has to priority number 1 this offseason. No way Korpi and Forsberg good enough, and I don’t see Sogaard being ready for the number 1 next year. Desperately need a right handed d man, other than Zub they have no one. This has been easily the most disappointing Senators team in franchise history. So many expectations for this year, and so many let downs again. Don’t think the fans can take another “ rebuild “.

That's why a franchise like Buffalo is still where it is bc they have a higher concentration of casual fans. With Ottawa tho, go time is NOW. Bouta be 7 years of no playoffs and the fans have every right to be hrowing impatient. Montreal already got slack for supposedly missing the playoffs in 2020 (3rd consecutive) if it werent for the playoffs-in rounds. I could'nt imagine what they would've gone through with this group of sens. I'm starting to be worried about the franchise moving bc the fans have given up and cant take it anymore.

@@FFSRayy I am as we should be, but we missed the boat. Montreal showed some progrès this year to. I know Boston and Toronto will regress soon, but that does not mean we will be a playoff team in the next few years. The playoff streak will last 10 to 15 years at most I believe. I think all the moves in the off-season pretty much to me siginal a blow up. I don’t know if Brady is on his way out. I know everyone is pretty much on the table. To make things worse, our prospect cupboard is empty. Future is pretty bleak.

They talked about being transparent but they are anything but. He is just blowing smoke telling us we want to hear. He calls being active getting someone off waivers. Please. They’re hearing from other teams just what their players are worth to other teams on the market. If teams are asking about Stutzle, Tkachuck, Sanderson, Pinto and Greig, it’s not happening. Maybe there’s little interest in Norris, mostly due to his injury history. Maybe little interest in Chabot because of his cap hit. Probably lots of interest in Batherson, Chychrun and Zub but now isn’t the time to think about trading those players, if they actually are thinking that. They have to hire a coach, prepare for the draft and decide who they’d like to move. Then they can work with other teams and use free agency to fill their needs. All this will happen after the season ends.

Compared to where Ottawa was last year with Debrincat. I'd say we're on a far better path. And atleast we have a core group of players who can play some entertaining Hockey. I'm excited to see the next 5years

Needed to send a message to these underachieving embarrassment of a team that their play isn't good enough. If we don't hire a legit GM, we're doomed under this guy. Clueless. Because paying for him allowed the trade to happen, and that got you draft picks. You’re essentially buying draft picks. The alternative is to keep Vladdy until the end of this lost season, and then lose him for nothing as a UFA.
