Uno de los trombonistas más prestigiosos de toda la historia del Jazz, Steve Turre se unió en su juventud a la banda de salsa del percusionista Pete Escovedo, lo que marcaría el comienzo de una carrera en la que el jazz se fusionaría de forma natural con la música latina.
Su larga carrera lo ha llevado a colaborar con estrellas como Ray Charles, Art Blakey, Thad Jones o Woody Shaw. Posteriormente, con Dizzy Gillespie, J.J. Johnson, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock o Tito Puente. Roland Kirk le introdujo en el estudio como instrumento de las conchas marinas, arte del que se le considera indiscutible maestro.
En definitiva, un gigante del jazz y un virtuoso del trombón, que Jazz San Javier tiene el gran placer de presentar a los aficionados.

Ah yes, very nice! I am an aspiring trumpeter, having retired a few years ago. Love hearing and seeing up and coming trumpeters. Of course I have seen Roney Jr. and he is already Great. Chip off of 2 blocks. Great band and great sounds. And I still listen to Mr. Turre with my FAVORITE musician of all time, the GREAT Woody Shaw.
