I think Steve was being very polite to the guy who was complaining about having to play BS gigs to get by.....I would've said he should be grateful that he's not asking "Do you want fries with that?" to get by instead of playing guitar. I've been playing for ages and am always very happy to get a paying gig playing instead of some other crap job that is miserable in countless ways. Thanks to Mr. Vai for putting these videos up, I always enjoy hearing/watching him play as well as listening to his stories and advice for us non virtuoso types. I just found these videos of Mr. Vai’s, and I have to say that I am profoundly impressed by his depth of understanding of the human condition. Quarantine, no Quarantine - one should develop habits, once focus is formed & blueprint is created.. 20 mins in and what Steve is describing is the basis of how I play. I wouldn't have a clue if I'm using a mode or whatever but I know I can move around the neck and create a different mood, 'Colour' is an awesome way to put it. Hi Steve, This may be a strange question but very important i think: How do you eat during the day for optimal performance, sharpness, learning, creativity and practicing. So basicly what is your advice on a diet for optimal performance. This is not about not being a vegetarian. I was traditionally brought up with 3 meals a day, but I find myself not sharp, productive, creative for a long time after each meal.

Steve, a question: do you happen to feel you don't like your music after you finish writing it? I happen to feel excited many times when writing a song, but when it comes to listening to the material, the excitement turns to misery. Will you, please share a perspective to cope with such distress?
