The music of the 80s put us all in a trance, talk about mood music, and the variety of good talent was amazing....

I remember the show about great band throughout time, he mentions that it takes whole 47 seconds before Morten Harket even starts to sing in an A-Ha song!

I never tire of this video. Steve has amazing vocals and talk about a sharp dressed man! And I am not paying much attention to the lady whose dress is falling off because I am fixated on Chaka swirling and twirling in that lace skirt. Thanks Hap!

One of the only 'white' 'black' male singers ever. When Steve recorded with Davis Spencer Group 'Gimme all your lovin', no one And his higher ps could have expected his to be a minor singing. That is crazy. And his highest parts werw out if range of usual male singer. Later on some heavy metal singers were on the same level but none before him. And usually they had this screaming almost female voice, not like this husky sound and high also...

He’s always been a phenom. He joined the Spencer Davis Group at 14, their first single dropped when he was just barely 16, and he co-wrote “Gimme Some Loving” at 18ish. Played organ for Jimi Hendrix. Was a part of the amazing group, Traffic. Joined Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and bassist Ric Grech and drum superstar Ginger Baker. And then did a lot of session work with everyone and had a Grammy winning solo career. I hear he’s the envy of some older rock singers since he’s kept his voice better than most.

I sometimes start my day with this song. And it's at least 30 years old. We have the exquisite Nile Rodgers on rhythm section, the one and only Chaka Khan on backing vocals, and 1 of the best made videos that capture the spirit of the song that I can think of.I love your reactions. You make me 😃

He’s got a great voice, and it’s a good song but also I think it’s one of those 80’s tracks where the production values were so good they just kind of endure. If you play this it jumps out of the speakers / iPods. I thought I’d completely forgot about it but it came back into my head. I guess I’ve finally accepted it into the classic archive

There is a longer version. And a European version with a a different drum intro. I know b/c the remake of it (slow version) with his daughter, was my wedding song. Because I love SW, and b/c my wife likes to be high. We transitioned the song to the Chaka Khan part, to dance. And then transitioned into Prince.

Freaking love this song! Such a damn groove and can we talk about the scorching Miss Chaka Khan and the amazing vocal stamp she added. So, one thing about your comments, the song IS an 80s classic being released in 1986 and was a huge smash in the US where it hit #1 in both the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and also #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart as well. Your info regarding a 2012 release was probably referencing a remastered version of the original.

Very good instant breakdown of the composition here that worked so very well - that's where your trance came from - it just carries one on through it, needing to get involved. High level artistry here from all concened, Steve Winwood, Chaka Khan, the man on guitar who prduced the song, and the drummer and congo players. Jumpin' song !
