Steve Winwood is one, Eric Clapton, Adele, Amy Winehouse (R.I.P.), Elton John, Sam, Simply Red, Rick Astley,, Sting, Beatles. Not sure there’s a white dude who can be said to be more funky than Steve Winwood. He right there a/Michael McDonald level soul, but rhythmically funky too. I saw Winwood in 1992 on tour for Refugees of the Heart. There were 2 drum kits set up on the stage. He went back and did a drum duet with the touring drummer. I turned to my friends and said it was probably going to melt into the intro for Higher Love. I was correct. Good times. Two years later I saw him live again for the Traffic reunion.

This was when I discovered the glory that is Steve Winwood and was instantly smitten. Had to go back to listen to his previous groups, who I had heard of but didn’t know he was a part of. Still one of my all time favorite singers ❤️ Check out his Madison Square Garden concert with Eric Clapton. Two legends together ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I will keep asking, respectfully, for "Arc of a Diver". One of the funkiest songs from that decade. It needs more respect.

He's not even famous for his voice, it's his keyboard skills he's in demand for. This whole album is absolutely brilliant.

I don't want to sound like a boomer, but what music today makes you smile this much? I just don't hear anything at ALL today that can make you dance, smile and just feel good like this music can. That's what music is really missing today. We can argue about being digital not analog, who plays an instrument and who doesn't, but at the end of the day, today's music just puts me in a miserable mood compared to the happiness of older music. I mean even Van Halen is a good example.(RIP Eddie) it was considered metal music. How often did Eddie smile ear to ear on stage during a concert? How many songs of theirs were about death violence etc? not very many at all... We need to get back to a JOYFUL SOUND again.

My father loved Steve Winwood. This song holds a special place in my heart as, when my father was in his final hour, I put my headphones on him and cranked it. I'd like to believe what they say about your hearing being the last to go. I wanted him to transition to a great song. - I only smile when I hear it; no sadness with Steve.
