this genius song absolutely DEFINED the autumn of 1987... I'd be honored if some fans of 80s power ballads would check out my acoustic piano & vocal covers of AGAINST ALL ODDS by Phil Collins, JACK & DIANE by John Cougar, and SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger on my channel in tribute to the masters. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital enhancements. Thanks and keep on rocking.
Agreed! Probably my favorite song of all time from this man

it was remixed by Tom Lord Alge with revised drum and vocal tracks for the 1987 Steve Winwood compilation album Chronicles and again released as a single. The original didn't have this sound and was recorded back in 1982. Glad he let him redo the song. I've heard the other version and they have it on KZbin also

I had a great long term relationship with a girl all throughout high school but sadly we parted ways shortly after graduation. We went off to different colleges in different states and the same for went for our jobs once we graduated. I had several relationships since her but nothing could compare to the memories of her... It really got to me sometimes. But by some divine miracle she moved near me for a job and we met up to catch up, since it had been 8 years since high school. She was amazed at my physical and life changes but I assured her that deep down "I'm the same boy I used to be..." Now we're together again and things couldn't get any better!

This version always seemed to elucidate the clarity of Winwood's esoteric voice. A true gem from the 80's! For many years as a young kid I enjoyed this song so much. Still do of course. This song has so much style, so much character, it's very moving, however, like cars, today's songs to me are so bland and whimsical. I enjoy the 80's - a true period of unparalleled musical genius!!!

This is what I call nice pop music. And yes, I do believe that eighties are back. In fact, I believe they've never gone. From punching drum machines to powerful synthesizers, those sounds are still fresh and inspiring. Technology was (to a certain extent) limited, but there was plenty of creativity. Even the most foolish dance song catched your heart like a storm, either with a nice riff, or a great melody. I hope this golden decade could bring some inspiration to the artists of today.
