I couldn't agree more. When I started taking photos with the intention of making photos, it was all over the place. When I gave street photography a try it led me down the path of street portraits. Once I got over that shyness and communication barrier,,, I started to see the true meaning of my photography. Getting past that felt like a cheat code, it was instantly my best photos. Some simple, light, and genuine conversations led me to discover why photography was important to me. P.s. Carty knows best

Dude this is so true. I'd much rather work an event than attend as a guest. I'm a little socially awkward / inward, but put a camera in my hands and I'm instantly relaxed and much more open. Just always been that way.

I started out as a fashion photographer and one day a client wanted to photograph me, so I had the model I was shooting get behind the camera. That led to a side career as a model for me. But reversing one's role be becoming the photographic subject instead of the photographer gives you the connection between photographer and subject. That way you learn not to be shy or afraid as a photographer.

Bro!!! I pretty much go to bed with my camera. I lay down and take pics of ppl on the TV and mess around with the settings on the daily.

Sadly it’s not helping you with business mindsets or learning how to engage while you’re with your camera. This is just a tool. Don’t be about the tool. Be about the work. You never hear Picasso talking about his paintbrush

@stevecarty your right. But it does help me get very familiar with my camera in the dark. Playing around with the tracking settings and learning the ins and outs of the menu system is crucial to a successful customer experience. It's just one part of the pie. My wife wouldn't approve if I invited strangers into our bed . Also It wouldn't benefit me to be a smooth talking, making people feel comfortable photographer who doesn't know his gear. Picasso never talked about his paintbrushes but he knew them all like the back of his hand. Probably eben had names for them. I like your work bro. Congrats on 20K. 🥳

Great video, Bro. Your choice to use the term, "Shy," instead of Introvert was interesting, and made me ponder if these two are the same things. Awesome stuff, keep them coming.

@@marckydasaint8730 average American has a 6th grade reading level. Yes if I said introvert it may have been more accurate than shy but I literally lower the grade level of my words so they are more easily absorbed. If you’re a high frequency individual like yourself, my easier to digest dialogue makes my concepts easier to action.

I have an extensive nature, wildlife and motorsports portfolio going back about 15 years. For the last year I've been trying to switch gears and build a portrait portfolio. I never thought it would be harder than wildlife photography. You would think it would be easy to just ask someone to stand in front of your camera rather than tracking down a wild animal in its natural habitat without them even knowing your there, but it's been difficult starting conversations with people I don't know.

You’re looking at strangers. Think small businesses. Small business need photography. Work for them. I have a system to teach you exactly how to do this. TheCartyMethod.com
