Last time the Leafs had at least two goalies with similar stats was Potvin-Rhodes in 1993-94, but Potvin still played 66 games. I would go back to Wregget-Bester in 1988-89 that they had two goalies splitting duties with reasonably good results.

For the previous Leaf Bros, I went with: Bentleys (Wrong - Max did, Doug didn't) Conachers (Wrong - Charlie of course, number is retired, Lionel actually never did - it was actually his linemate Busher that played with their bro) Saccos (Wrong - both played with the Leafs, but neither played in the same game, or even the same season, Joe left in 93, David played in 93-94 - they did play together in Anaheim) And then...I gave up. Ihnacek did cross my mind, but I thought I was mistaken. So I'll give myself a half-point for that. I also thought the Mahovlich's for a split second, but of course Pete never played with the Leafs. I knew Barry and Brian Cullen played together, but I thought they played with the Hawks. Of course, any 90s Leafs fan should know Barry is John Cullen's father. I won't pretend I know anything about the Metz though. XD

Fun fact: Since 2020, this has been the best statistical run of not only a true goaltending tandem in leafs history, but possibly the best goaltending statistics by all metrics in leafs history, period. By the criteria that the backup goalies (one or more) shared close to the same workload as the #1: 21 - Andersen + Campbell 22 - Campbell + Mrazek / Kallgren / Woll 23 - Samsonov + Murray/ kallgren / woll (Are among the best leafs regular season goaltending stats ever) and Stolarz and Woll are on pace to top this. By this criteria, the last time the leafs had a tandem this good was 1962/63 Johnny Bower and Don Simmons. With 73/74 trio of Doug Favell, Ed Johnston, and Dunc Wilson being strong but not as dominant as 62/63 or any 2020-current goalie tandems.

Good win led by the stars. Marner's skating is supernatural.

For those of you wondering who the Metz brothers were. Nick Metz was the Bob Gainey of the 30s and 40s, a master defensive forward who could play any position. Don Metz was a solid player who often spent the regular season in between the Leafs and the Pittsburgh Hornets the Leafs' farm team. Don came up big in the 42 comeback getting a hattrick in game 5 of the greatest comeback ever. While Don would never truly stick with the Leafs, he was almost always with the Leafs come playoff time.
