If the Oilers come back to win, their season becomes the best story of the modern era of hockey. This game further proves that the Panthers did not deliberately lose game 4. As many people said in the past you don't lose the big game on purpose, ever. And it's for reasons like this. Your giving the other team momentum to build off. There's a good chance this game can go to 7 and there is a chance that Edmonton can steal the series if this keeps up.
@steverogers59564 ай бұрын
They didn't deliberately lose it, but they pretty much gave up after the 2 second period goals. The attitude was clearly "ok, this one's lost, we'll wrap it up at home". Losing 2 in a row has to have some doubt in their minds, and they ;ost this one playing much better.

@Earthboundmike Likely because there are at least 1.5 Assists awarded for every goal scored, but only 1 Goal credited for every goal scored. The VAST majority of NHL players have many more Assists to their credit than Goals. Scoring goals is just harder to do than collecting assists. One can score a goal without an assist being awarded, but one cannot collect an assist without a goal being scored. Maybe that's why?

Will it happen? Probably not. But if it does we are in the midst of the greatest moment in hockey history. I want everyone to understand that. In the other major sports they have their moment, the NFL had 28-3 with Tom Brady, the NBA had 3-1 with the Lebron James, and the MLB had 3-0 with the Red Sox. Those series were Star and league defining moments. Moments where the greatest of all time had there moment to shine. And to focus just on the NFL and NBA ones, moments where either sports “goat” defined why people say that when referring to their legacy. If this happens, the Panthers lose the next two games, and the Oilers win. Not only will it be iconic for Edmonton winning, Canada finally winning, and a 3-0 reverse sweep. But it will be iconic for McDavid having the greatest series in NHL history, and will be talked about forever. So please hockey gods, let this happen it would be so friggin funny.

That Win vs Vancouver should be enough to remind Edmonton that this is absolutely possible. If they work hard for 6 more periods like they have the past two games and keep throwing doubt into Bobrovsky, They can and I believe they Will do it. oilers are putting on a show, but florida is still fine.....EXCEPT....the question is, is bobbo cooling off? if bob goes ice cold, florida will lose. this was the big question for me coming into this game, then we got the game we did. i'd say bob looks preeetty chilly!! he just didn't look like himself at all. he looked sloppy and desperate to grasp onto some of that confidence he once recently had. when he threw a poke-check, which is a big confidence play for a goalie, and MISSED it and it nearly slid past him...wow that didn't look good. then there was a wrap around attempt where again bob didn't look good, not to mention the goal by mcdavid. those never go in on old bobbo, but here we are!! i think edmonton forces game 7 and...well if bob doesn't straighten up, florida will lose. florida cannot win this without the elite goaltending, in my opinion. oilers will light them up

Oilers too much fire power....like I was saying both teams can lock it down defensively....but Oilers offense gives them the edge.

Also, San Jose, who famously blew a 3-0 lead to the Kings in 2014, ALSO quietly blew a 3-0 series lead to the Red Wings, but won game 7. This was the very NEXT round, after the Canucks did the same thing in the same year. Just weird that after 1975 (a year where a game seven after a 3-0 series lead was also forced twice), that we saw nothing for 35 years. The we got a flurry of them in a four year span, and then nothing in 10 years.

I see Florida choking the same way Boston did against them last year in round 1. Mc David wins playoff MVP weather or not they win the Stanley Cup. But the Oilers win it in 7.
@HPxG3234 ай бұрын
David had 1-2 good games and suddenly he should win Smythe even if they lose? Nah, if oilers hoist the cup then david gets Smythe. Otherwise no chance unless the Canada bias steps in and robs Barkov/Bob the Smythe.

Part of what can make the Stanley cup finals so interesting to watch. I thought florida had it all locked down. Then the oilers run amuck and surge to life making the big cats fall back a bit. Game 4 was a slaughtering of one team. Last night was a battle and while Edmonton kept the overall edge Florida showed they still really want to win. It was a good game to watch and makes me anticipate watching games 6. I picked Florida as to who i wanted out of the two to win. But Edmonton definitely showed up to remind everyone why they are the other team there fighting for the cup. Congrats to what mcdavid is accompishing on the record books. Because i don't watch much of him i tend to forget just how insanely good he is at being a point producer. Lots of amazing play from both sides and a good many of the players are really going to that next level of effort and determination. Love playoff and Stanley cup hockey.

On a side note I always thought after the 2012 Final that the Devils fought hard for that Game 4 and then the Kings didn’t wanna win that Game 5 because they wanted it at home. Kinda like what the Panthers did in Game 4 and now it seems like it’s slowly bitting them back

This reminds me of the habs vs canes round 2 series in 2002. 3 games in and the habs looked like they were going to dominate. Theodore looked rock solid and the canes didn't seem to have an answer... until game 4. Game 4 they eked out a win in OT and after that it seemed like the floodgates opened and they had completely solved Theodore and the series was done in a blowout. Could be the same with Bob in this series

8:58 also 2015 thé Sens we’re last middle of the season came back and made the playoffs. Sens would test there will once again being down 3-0 to the Habs and made it halfway to a comeback. In 2008 Dallas was down 3-0 in the third round and made it halfway as well.

I feel like the only thing people remember about the 2012 Final was Bernier's major in Game 6 (and the THREE PPG on the major power play). The first two games were in New Jersey, and the Kings won both in overtime, so the series was closer than it may have seemed. (Only winning two games in the series is the worst New Jersey has ever done in a Conference Final or later; they've played 12 such series in franchise history, winning eight and losing the other three in 7.) Also I thought in 2003 that Giguere deserved the Conn Smythe after Round 2. He wasn't the Finals MVP, but he absolutely deserved the Conn Smythe that year, no matter how much many of my fellow Devils fans complain about that.

I think game 6 will go to the Oilers. They have the momentum now. As for the Conn Smythe, it’s pretty clear the focus has shifted from Bobrovsky to McDavid, and, really, that is completely understandable. One thing I’d like to add, is the fact that both Connor Brown and Zach Hyman, who are playing amazing hockey for the Oilers, at one time were both Leafs, much loved by Leaf fans, who were both traded away by Kyle Dubas, to accommodate Mitch Marner’s salary demands. Not Mitch’s fault, but so short-sighted by Dubas.
