I’m not sure if you can answer this, but I was wanting 24/7 recording. So about 3-4 years ago, the Vivint representative said they can turn on the DVR capability on my gen 2 cameras and doorbell. The representative sent a technician to turn it on and they told me that’s not a feature they do and has to be done at corporate. So I called back to support and they said a tech can only do this. So after getting no answer the representative said they have a physical DVR that would solve the issue. I ordered that and the unit worked great, but was charged twice for DVR service. It took months to sort this out. I ended up returning the physical DVR because they had it advertised cheaper than what I paid and they would not honor the sale price. I called there today and they said a representative tried to sell me the same package that our Gen 2 equipment has the capability to record 24/7, I would have to pay them 240.00 to activate it. What is your experience with having 24/7 service? I can’t trust anything they say because of my past experience. Thanks for any advise.

Over 8yr with Vivint in multiple homes, their equipment and especially their cameras are superior to others I looked into. Their systems are also feature rich. I really appreciate the fact you can buy compatible sensors from places like Amazon for far less money and they will gladly help you install them (although now you can do it on your own). You cannot add 3rd party cameras nor can you link their cameras with Unifi Protect, limitations from both companies. You do need to pay attention to pricing. Their tech support is fantastic, their customer service is also fantastic, their sales department on the other hand... If you aren't the sort of person that pays attention to detail or you easily fooled, you'll end up less than thrilled. I can say the cameras are crisp and have enough detail you can easily watch small animals in your yard both at night and during the day. I have a bunch of bird feeders out in the yard about 40ft from one of my cameras, which is mounted about 18ft up on the house and can see with enough clarity to ID what sort of birds are at the feeder during the day. I can tell you from the extensive research I did, Vivint is probably one of the most expensive companies out there, but you absolutely get what you pay for.

I suggest you put the panel near your front door. And get a keypad for the garage and the bedroom.

Look up the reviews their customer service sucks!! Many people have canceled an their still getting billed not to mention there people that setup your system suck!! I’d stay away if I were you

They are fine, no different than all the other companies and far better equipment than ADT. I have vivint in a few homes and have had them now for 8yrs. Just read everything before you sign. They can be tricky with wording and easily fool unintelligent/gullible people

How much did they pay you because Vivint is horrible their Cameras quality looks like they are from the early 2000's and the playback is horrible. Customer service is also horrible you're basically on your own if you need a representative. Horrible Equipment and Horrible Service

My cameras work fine and the quality is incredible, I can see great detail and the picture is crisp. Ive also never had any issues with customer service or tech support. I have them in multiple homes for almost a decade.

@M.U.G95 well considering I've had the same Google account for 20 years, it's pretty obvious it's not a fake account, and I don't work for Vivint. I have them in both my homes and have for a long time. They have 2 million customers according to a Google search. You can't be a crappy company and not have quality products and have 2 million current customers and they've been around forever. Vivints issue is their poorly trained sales department that's gotten them into trouble. The rest of it is great. I had them for almost 7 year before I purchased another home and decided to use them again. I'm pretty picky, if they sucked i wouldn't have spent $5400 on a 2nd system.

The new software code for these GEN 2 cam pros is a huge scam and ripoff for all current gen 1 cam customers. Read my comments on the code & software. They are running a ripoff scam. But your own system monitor it your self. Vivint is a greedy company just like Apple. These companies all are learning from Apple.

The only issue with Viviht is the scam in the software code. They wrote the code to force you to remove delete and trash you 6 GEN 1 cams or you cannot get any GEN 2 pro cams. The same smart hub can only use up to 6 GEN 1 but if I trash my investment on 6 GEN 1 cameras at $399.00 each remove them from the smart panel I can then get up to 12-14 of the new GEN 2 pro cams ??? Seriously Viviht this is a scam and a rip off. Vivint could allow all Gen 1 cameras to be used with the Gen 2 pro cameras. But this is how they want me to trash my investment and this is a greedy scam. It will happen again to all GEN 2 pro cam customers when vivint comes out with Gen 3 they will force Gen 2 customers to trash their investment. Wasteful and GREEDY VIVINT IS A SCAM. The speeds on my smart panel are so slow and I have - 1 Gbps and they cannot figure out why all my smart Apple products on WiFi get 400-700 Mbps on WiFi. They say they are using my electrical boxes to get internet it’s not using WiFi speeds are super slow. Sorry but I have been with vivint since they started. And the way the wrote the new code software for Gen 2 pro cameras is nothing but a greedy trick to force me into trashing my 6- $399.00 cameras Gen 1 or I cannot even upgrade to 1 gen 2 pro cam. That’s insane to treat your customers. Like this. I write software code in high school. They could have allowed all Gen 1 cameras to remain on the system and let you add more Gen 2 pros. But vivint is greedy just like Apple.
