Love the Sound of an RB211 at full power, it’s a great whine, loved on the L1011’s at BZN, could easy goto sleep listening to the sound. Long love the Queen of the Sky.

While watching a video of the Southern California Logistics in Victorville, California, I noticed a couple of BA 747-400s I thought all the BA 747s are now in the UK being scrapped. The video was shot in July, 2021.
@HeathrowAircraft2 жыл бұрын
@AH Benjamin. Hi yes those in California would have been one of the G-BNL series 747s that BA retired in 2014 / 15. G-BNLI is stored there so it could be that one for example.
@ahbenjamin28892 жыл бұрын
From the video it seemed to be protected against the elements pretty good. I am sure with some maintenance at Victorville, it would be in good flying condition. Perhaps BA would have some second thoughts in resurrecting the Queen of the Skies.

@@ahbenjamin2889 wouldn’t that be epic! I don’t think they will do it though as I understand they sold on their simulators and have Re trained flight crew on other fleets now. But there may be interest from other operators if there is potential for cargo conversion- I guess depends on how many others in long term store from other airlines are in a similar condition or better that might be used first…time will tell!!

Hi Steve, as I was talking to you about the aircraft engines would it be possible for a BA 747 to fly if they changed the engines to CF6 ones?
@HeathrowAircraft2 жыл бұрын
@Ross Mason. Hi Ross that’s a good question. I guess technically the answer is yes but I suspect there would be instrumentation and performance issues that would differ. I know an ex 747 pilot so will ask him! I’ll keep you posted! ✈️
@rossmason88122 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by instrumentation and performance issues?
@HeathrowAircraft2 жыл бұрын
@@rossmason8812 Hi Ross - I mean instrument calibration- I assume the many engine management / monitoring systems etc would have to be calibrated to the performance of that engine type.
@rossmason88122 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah I get you. Are there any other airline companies that operated the 747 with the RB211 engines?
@HeathrowAircraft2 жыл бұрын
@@rossmason8812 Hi Ross - I think Qantas did? And Silkway the cargo operator use RB211s on their aircraft if I remember right. But no not many - sadly. Still prefer the sound of the RB211s to the American versions!!!
