That was the last Jumbo I flew, landed in JFK 13L from a Canarsie arrival, my FO flew it home so I flew the approach into London, he landed we taxed to the gate and shutdown, we had about 20 people on board all escaping the impending C19 shutdown. We both knew that would be the last time we would get to fly her. Sad.

@ yes, and I have flown in several of the very first BA 777s ! At the time BA placed the order for their first thirty B777s many were surprised that they chose the GE90 engine, instead of one from Rolls. All their subsequent B777/200s did have Rolls engines, and the choice of GE for the first thirty may have been linked to the sale of the BA engine overhaul factory in Treforest South Wales, to GE ! A wonderful plane.

There were actually 5 of these ZZ reg 777’s that BA had. BA only operated A, B and C. They had GE90 engines but only rated at 75,000 lbs of thrust, where the VII reg ones had 90,000 lbs. So ZZA,B and C tended to operate Middle East routes, and the shorter Atlantic crossings such as New York, Newark and Boston.
