@@HeathrowAircraft Thank you very much! I bet you've seen a lot more than these but may not have videos of them! I faintly remember the 747SP Saudi but I do remember that it visited it 2012. (I also do have footage of it!) The Air Mauritius A340-300E was the first aircraft I sat in! It was my first trip to Mauritius from LHR in 2007. The Etihad was as common as the Virgin a340's! Thai's A340's I saw around 2014. @Heathrow Aircraft I do have one question: I remember always seeing the South African A340's (especially the 2012 Olympic livery ZS-SXD) near T2 but Ironiclly never saw them very takeoff, land or taxi. So my question is why did they arrive to LHR early in the morning and depart late at night? Thanks!

@@ahyanremtulla Hi Ahyan ah you have some amazing aircraft memories there! Have you uploaded them - would be great to see them! Yes you’re right re the SAA flights. They have always been late at night departures - I assume that’s because pax can sleep for most of the service and be ready in the morning - without jet lag as there is virtually no time difference between the 2 countries. I miss seeing the SAA 747s that were often parked over at the BA maintenance base…..

@HeathrowAircraft -Thanks for the info! I don't recall the 747 from SAA cause they stopped visiting around 2010 I think! I may upload the Saudi 747sp video because I do have footage somewhere, i just can't seem to find it...

@@ahyanremtulla ah - hope you manage to locate it! Here’s a film (photos) from the late 1980s at Heathrow. You can see at 2:00 a South African 747 parked in the background! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qH7Cc6eme7aoqLs

AvGeek NZ Thank you very much - I am the same - and they come in all shapes and sizes don’t they - when you look (albeit v. Briefly and a bit fuzzy at the A340-200 landing; then compare with the larger -300 of the Air Belgium and then the extremely long -600 like the Virgin A340 G-VYOU. Amazing variation! 👍

Just to say awesome viewing , can u explain to me queen of sky to A340 which one carry more and fuel saver????
@HeathrowAircraft4 жыл бұрын
Ricardo sam Hiya - the A340-600 is 75.36 metres in length (247 feet). It has a range of 14,450 KM (7,800 miles) and carries between 320 to 370 passengers. It has 4 Rolls Royce Trent 500 engines and uses typically only 56,000lbs of their certified 60,000 lbs of thrust resulting in longer on-wing life. The Boeing 747-400 as used by BA is 231 feet 10 inches in length (so actually slightly less length than the A340-600) and has a range of 13,450 KM (again slightly less than the A340-600). Passenger load is anything up to 421 pax depending on cabin configuration. So in many ways the A340-600 is a rightful contender to be crowned “Queen” over the 747-400!!
