Partial Chords up the Neck, Clawhammer Banjo

I may be four years late but I love the exercise. Not only is it insanely easy but it sounds beautiful. Im working toward partial chord use now, after learning all of the full fingerings. Partial chords are giving me more speed and they provide nice dynamics.

I learned a similar progression on the guitar back in the 60"s (remember them). it was called Mole's Moan. Nice !

You exercise sounds so pretty. I'm a beginner banjo player. I can play and sing simple chords on the banjo. Getting to that point was a major accomplishment. Now I'm bored. I made a decision today to learn the banjo neck. I'm glad I came upon your video. I like how you teach. I subscribed to your channel. Thank you!

Steve Harrison, this video has tremendously helped me with learning the g scale. I've got this little banjo exercise in my head. It's made my banjo life so much easier with moving up the neck in the key of G. G Am Bm C D Em. So proud of myself. Now I have a question. Will the same two finger concept work with C and D?

Karen Stinson the short answer is yes, it should work for any key and any mode. Of course, when I just now tried it out, it’s easier said than done. So you know what that means! New video coming soon! 😂

@@StevePlaysBanjo Yay! Your video was fantastic for my little brain to comprehend. I'm embarrassed to say but, I've been struggling with this for quite some time until I saw this video. For some reason my brain just couldn't comprehend until, I seen you actually move up and down that neck and calling out the chords. And all of a sudden I had an epiphany! It didn't matter how many pages of notes I was reading. Actually seeing it, that's what did it for me. A BIG THANK YOU ❤️!!!
