How do we connect 1 single Sub to a system running in monoblock? I mean I do have a system in such configuration, in bridge mode, both amps heaving pre-outs that can be used to feed the sub. But, since I have one single sub, can I hook the cable to Red preout binding post of the amp driving the right speaker and the black to the othe amp for the left? Thanks

Im thinking of adding mono blocks to feed my speakers using pre outs from my denon avr. If the avr is class d using direct mode , to class a/b mono blocks. . . Is there any benefit? Or should i just keep the chain class D?
@SteveD-m6z21 сағат бұрын
Generally, when talking about the Class of an amplifier this refers to the power amplifier stage. The outputs from your Denon AVR will provide line level signals. To connect to an external power amplifier, you will need a pre-amplifier output with a volume control. The pre-amplifier output can be connected to any other Class of amplifier. Modern power amplifiers have high impedance inputs and impedance matching isn’t an issue. However, care needs to be taken to ensure matching between the input sensitivity of the power amplifier and the pre-amplifier’s output signal level. If the signal is too small the pre-amplifier will not be able to drive the power amplifier’s input stage correctly. Conversely, if the signal is too big the operating range of the volume control will be impacted and there is a risk of pushing the amplifier into clipping.

A Class A/B amp by definition puts out some power in Class A. That’s where the name comes from. An amp that isn’t biased into Class A at all is, surprise surprise, callad a Class B amplifier, otherwise known as a switching amplifier. Class B amps aren’t common in high performance audio, but early Naim and NAD amps come to mind.
@Douglas_BlakeКүн бұрын
Class B is not a switching amplifier. Switchers are Class C. Class B is the old "push pull" amplifier.

@@michaelkanna9188 Most push pull amps with the output transformers operated in Class B as did many of the early complimentary amplifiers we now call class AB. Yes, the push pull configuration can be operated in class AB but because of current limitations in tube designs it was not common.

How do these co.pare with a couple of Schiit Vidars?
@dannyng5427Күн бұрын
I am also interested to know. Vidars are much cheaper.

The images on-line suggest that the Schitt Vidar is the superior design. Consider Schitt’s aftersales service and the ability to repair the product.

Vidar in mono block configuration would be usable in 8 ohms only. So that would need to be considered

Aha so they have very very minimal bias in class A less than 1W. Usually I would expect a design like this to have 5 watts class A bias…
