People don't usually understand that line, either. The man was telling Corey that you can't make it there without a look or a hook or a gimmick or a face or a market or a racket or a hustle or a slang or an image. You can't see this shit without it

marlon brando was a famous hollywood actor who was known for being very depressed despite his great success. “you can’t see california without marlon brando’s eyes” is something corey heard a homeless man shouting and it basically means that you can’t see california for what it really is until you look through a perspective like that of marlon brando.

Love your reaction to Diluted, it's cool to see how subjective music is, for Corey Taylor i believe this is some sort of PSTD of his father leaving. For me the song resonates with me because of my past of parent doing drugs and getting beat up in front of me, and me going to foster home etc. It really is a special song. (Corey never plays it live because it's too painful)

The story behind the number track was that those numbers were the barcode for what at the time was considered slipknots Original debut album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. Which was limited to only 1000 copies and now is ultimately ruled out as a demo, which also features some songs from their self-titled debut such as songs like sic (originally titled Slipknot), Only One and Tattered and Torn it's also one of the only releases to feature their original vocalist Anders Colsefni before Corey joined the band in 97

Imminence with the song “Come What May.” It’s a Live Version at the Ystads Teater. They actually have a Live Video now. Lead singer plays violin while singing and screaming. It’s kind of unheard of having violin in metalcore. It’s an emotional song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6W7mqp3Z8mBfdEsi=tnSkkZY75jO87fcV

Top3 imo: 1. Scissors 2. Liberate 3. Eyeless Scissors is weird and usually very hard to enjoy on first listens. Took me years to appreciate that song. It was after I started enjoying progressive and djent music in particular that I started to appreciate longer songs with alot of buildup more. That's when I realized how good Scissors was. I agree though, Tattered and Torn is a very weak song.

Marlon brando was an American actor. So from what i gathered Corey Taylor the lead singer here meet/talked with a homeless man and as he was talking to this homeless man he said you cant see California with Marlon barando's eyes so Corey made a song about it.

Unfortunately you didn't do the original album (something most reactors do). What I mean is they had to re-release their first album without a song called purity that also had a short track that leads into it called frail limb nursery. While I like the song me inside it wasn't on the original album and it replaced the track/song mentioned above. It was removed for legal reasons and the story is pretty funny if you watch a video of the singer Corey Taylor talking about how he had to talk to a judge on the phone over it. Also it's pronounced prath-set-iks lol.
