karma is conditioning... residue in the subconscious (whether from past lives or this one) that drives behavior until the conditioning is shed to reveal the One True Self.

This is a misconception of karma. Karma is much better understood as the conditions that come together that manifest reality as it appears to us. In this understanding free will still exists as we can always change certain conditions and this may lead to other conditions more akin to our intentions. So if we act with compassion, it is most likely that we will experience a more compassionate inner and outer experience of the world, whereas if we act with anger and hatred, the likelihood is that we will no. This is not an A to B to C linear understanding, but more of a synchronous conglomeration of separate but related conditions, a bit like a garden. So if we use fertile ground and treat the garden with care and consciousness, good things are more likely to grow. How they grow and what will grow is not always clear, but the faith aspect is acting with compassion regardless of this uncertainty. Reincarnation is not the same as rebirth. Reincarnation is the transmigration of the soul, rebirth is the continuation of conditions in flux, UNINTERRUPTED by birth. So birth is a marker, rather than a complete beginning. This fits perfectly with astrology, which also marks this place with the natal chart and sees the particular influencing conditions at that time. From that moment, our life begins to have an impact on the entire universe, and so karma is changed and formed as we grow together in the cosmos.

I saw a Hindu Pundit talking about the Vedic philosophy of Karma; whatever he related in a sophisticated language could be translated in a simpler language as 'obsession due to hunger'. As according to Vedas, a person not only feeds on food, but also on sights, sounds, and other senses. The real meaning of karma is the weakness of sight in the dark, which causes a person to misjudge his moves; thus creating chaos. South Node is 'the weakness inside' causing the 'chaos outside' at the North Node.

I like this comparison of karma vs. free will and purpose. What if the third world demanded from us their fare share of the world's resources, what if we offered them their share....karma is a mind trip that does not seem to bring a tangible positive result....just a promise that something in a future we will never remember will be better. I don't believe I chose to come back either. I think I was shoved...(Pluto conjunct ascendant, opposing Mars, square Sun...ughghghghg) HOWEVER, understand that if we are to believe in the soul, if we are to believe that the energy within in us is kinetic, then that means that our soul (which is dirt old) did come back for a reason. Our human self (which will always be child like) may not have chosen to come back, but our soul did. On a brighter note, I have NN conjunct Venus in the 4th! As a writer/actress/producer etc, that's one thing about my chart that THRILLS the heck out of me and validates my existence!

Yes, that's pretty much how I have come to see the NN/SN. I have the SN Libra in 4th, where home is more comfortable and easier than the putting myself out there with NN Aries 10th. My 10th house is ruled by Pisces, so can be quite the challenge. Anyway, like your videos and much appreciated.

My north node is in house 11 which would mean that i can never have a big enough network or a big enough circle of friends right? But ive never had many friends because im not a people-person so this being the thing thats the hardest for me makes a lot more sense. Dismissing reincarnation in astrology is rather superficial considering that it gives a key to read one's soul blueprint for this life. As per the books of Jan Spiller, astrology reveals past life patterns one would tend to play out in this life without realising it, unless they make them conscious. One is mostly run by their subconscious, unless they are sufficiently evolved; so the ability to apply free will in the Western sense is often exaggerated.

Dear Steve North node denotes confusion and it has confused you to quite an extent ! India (eastern world) was far richer than what the entire western hemisphere put together. So the concept of past karma is not born out of penury. Instead it has a far greater significance. I suggest that you read the Garud Purana and other relevant texts and also study the co-relation between conciousness and quantum physics (the tangible manifestation of the north node) and finally when you understand the concept of karma, that you speak of it.

Karma is cause & effect. Karma is up to free will & choices. Destiny & fate imply being limited & narrow-minded. For instance a carpenter chooses to expand & study Japanese carpentry & not limit skills to western carpentry. Free will & openminded choices are in play in this case. An astrologer who studies Tibetan astrology & isn't limited by western conditioning develops a more holistic & sophisticated approach to astrology. Being free & open is the best karma. I read tarot so have New Agers around me a lot whom I adore but I have trouble with their take on karma. According to New Age belief of karma the drunk driver who hit my car and totaled it with my family in it was MY karma. The state I live in has the highest drunk driving rate in the US and needs to address that, offer counseling, etc.producing a tangible result. Karma reminds me of the "your questions will be answered in heaven my child, just sign up here line (lol) I got at Catholic school.

The main societal function of religion is to justify social inequality. It justifies the wealth and power of those in control and it consoles the have nots that the inequality and injustice they experience will be corrected in a future life (whether in heaven or here on earth). Wiensam. True node and mean node refers to the "positioning" of the nodes. It has to do with measurement...mathematically speaking. Think about working out averages mathematically. Listen carefully at the beginning of the talk when it explains what the North (in this case). How is your geometry knowledge?

Jesus was a Jew, but had philosophy of a Buddhist. Mosaic laws says,"An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth", while Jesus asked for turning of the other cheek. Judaism was a system, while Jesus brought morality and spirituality. For example, Moses had many wives and all the more children, while Jesus insisted on renunciation through celibacy.
