"If you see something, say something" has led to two of the most ridiculous arrests of 2024, both with similar circumstances. The first arrest was in Texas, after a mother had dropped off her misbehaving eight-year-old son a half mile from their home and told him to walk the rest of the way. "The rest of the way" was entirely on their neighborhood streets, and a passerby called police because "a boy is walking alone," never having checked with the boy as to his well-being. The police showed up in minutes, a surprising turn of events in itself, put the boy in their car to drive him home, then arrested the mother for "child endangerment." The second case was in Georgia when a 10-year-old boy walked less than a mile from home to play in a park. The police encountered the boy, took him home and arrested his mother on the same charge. I say, "Seriously?!" Since when can a child not be outside? Why is a cop's fantasy of a child abduction a solid basis for probable cause? How far into Idiocracy have we devolved?

It is worth noting that she was back on the street without a positive ID of who she really was. Given her behavior, the odds of active warrants for her elsewhere are quite high.

How did she get through TSA and through gate agent without a ticket or boarding pass? Which agents were on duty that allowed her to sneak through?
@somethingsomething4042 күн бұрын
She skipped only the ID check at security, but she also skipped the boarding pass check at the gate.

@ she somehow evaded both security checks. Scary. I am glad I do not fly now but I never saw anyone get through gate check

Yes, and every one of the many flights I have taken had flight attendants checking boarding passes at the door of the aircraft as well. Perhaps that only applies to non-American international flights?

Post 911, I took the puddle jumper to the International Airport. I'm a big guy and my knees were bad; the plane only had a few passengers, and I was in the middle back three seats. By the time I stepped out of the plane, there was NO ONE around. I wandered around until I found someone and of course, they reamed me for THEIR screw up. Since I was flying to Germany and on to Lithuania vs my usual catching a ride to the car dealer, I ate their crap. Also, this was before 'always record' Government officials on public property. I know, who cares?

I had an employee fighting for unemployment. During the hearing I outlined to the judge how the employee refused to follow company policies and told me that he was better at making policy. The judge actually asked me if: 1) Did I tell him he could be fired for such actions?; and 2) Could I document that I had told him? The answers were yes and yes precisely because I know how our justice system doesn't understand the concept of common sense. I can only imagine some of the things cops put in their reports in their efforts to satisfy crazy judges.
@HattieLankford-242 күн бұрын
I hope you told him yes and yes because it's the truth! You do things daily that others would consider beneath "common sense". Be glad of the protections that you aren't even aware of using. Beware of eliminating protections you don't think you need.
@catnvol2 күн бұрын
@@HattieLankford-24 Saying "it's the truth" would be redundant since I was already sworn to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I am guessing you are part of the reason the judge asked such stupid questions. I am just glad I found the power to refrain from telling the judge what I thought of his questions. As an FYI, after I gave my testimony, and evidence, the judge turned to the former employee and asked "Is what he just said true?". The former employee replied "Yes, but..." The judge cut him off, said there were no "buts", and ruled in my favor. There was a good ending but I still maintain that it is ridiculous that an employer should have to document such basic things. I am guessing if I had fired the employee for not showing up for work every Monday and Friday he would have asked me if I advised the employee that he might get fired if the consistantly didn't show up for work.

How many times does she has to get caught before they send her to jail
@valarianne22842 күн бұрын
Maybe jail is not the answer here. It seems like she might have some problem - jail is NOT going to solve that, it will probably make her worse. I think the lady needs an evaluation by a couple doctors. We don't know if she's on meds, SHOULD be on meds, stopped taking meds, has some psychiatric issues, etc. From the information we have she hasn't done anything violent and genuinely seems confused. Punishing someone for being mentally ill doesn't cure the illness and ultimately won't stop the behavior. She can't be allowed to continue inconveniencing people or messing with plane/travel schedules, but prosecution, jail and/or fines isn't going to cure whatever is wrong.

I think the woman should receive an award for demonstrating the sloppy application of our airport security system. Perhaps they should hire her to test the security at various airports, as she is clearly very good at what she does.

First we had Houdini, who could escape anything. Then the Amazing Randi did even better. Now we have a woman who can get INTO anywhere. I see a reality series here . . . Another thought: Maybe it’s time for another “Airplane” movie - featuring imposter pilots, ticketless passengers, exotic “service” animals, a hold filled with the wrong luggage, and parts falling off the plane.

Back in 2020 I was on a flight out of LAX to O Hare. A passenger on standby was told the flight was full he found a boarding pass that had been cancelled as that passenger had upgraded and he used it to board the plane. The flight attendants did a head count found they had an extra passenger. Finally they decided to take off and had the man arrested on landing.
