God damn. 10-20 years ago, to get over 1k HP, it required a ton of specialized pistons, cam, blocks, heads and it took a lot of money and a lot of time on and off testing and building to get there. Now you can take a stock engine block, put some bolt ons and a simple tune and poof, you can get 1k... Just absolutely nuts. We really are in the golden year of the ICE where we have achieved so much efficiency and power from every drop of fuel. Advanced tuning really got us there! Where with the stock OBD2 style computers, they were limited on sampling and narrow band 02 and such, but the new computers are highly advanced and for the real play ground, holly designed their efi system that was designed to upgrade your old carb to efi (TBI), but now they added so much more and build such amazing drag and race products!!!

Yes, it can be frustrating. You might laugh, but keeping documentation and photos helped me fix more than a few nightmares that other new car dealer's gave up on. Had they kept records on problematic vehicles, I have no doubt the dealer tech would have diagnosed the problem. These were really talented mechanics. The mechanic became frustrated and decided he would try a work around with jumpers and was inputting the wrong sensor voltage. He knew better but his frustration got the best of him. Document everything.

In my experience cleanable mesh filters are too large a micron rating to be used as a primary filter. We used return filters to catch the big stuff if something crapped out on our hydraulic systems. 10 micron primary filter, mesh 25isn micron.

It's been 35+ years ago.... but yeah I remember playing with butterfly injectors.... regulating fuel pressure, watching an oscilloscope, tach-dwell meter, wide band O2 sensors and gauges that were just a series of sweeping LED lights, timing lights that were not adjustable, exhaust gas analyzers and the ever favorite sniff n taste tests! Smell the exhaust and taste the oil.....Boxes of jets, boxes of distributor springs and fly weights... I actually had one of those huge SUN gauge stands on rollers with all of the testers, meters and a tool tray. I kinda miss those days! We thought we went fast back then... Now people do it on a laptop or even on their phones.... who'da thunk it?

I've always thought that a fixed displacement positive displacement engine driven pump wasn't a great idea for fuel delivery... Unless there's a pressure regulator somewhere. A friend of mine has a small block with a setup like I've just mentioned with only a restrictor in the return line.. I'm guessing the pressure at idle is alot higher than pressure at wide open throttle.. but it works

Steve, you know you can run 93NL, E85, methanol, 100LL, and/or any combination of them together in the mechanical and electronic injectors. I used to run M90 (10% 93L and 90% methanol) in an unqualified "gasohol" class with a Predator carb. You could start it with the key, idle around the pits, and read the plugs. For your boat engine, I would run 1/2 the fuel in the hat and 1/2 in the EFI injectors. Maybe E85 in the hat and 93NL in the EFI.

Uhh. I was confused by that explanation, but a high speed bypass on mechanical injection leans out over a certain rpm/pressure, at a certain rate, because the efficiency of an engine starts to lay over relative to rpm, even though they continue to make more power. So, the bypass itself leans out the high speed fuel.
