That would be impossible to do since pickles can't exist within the UK. As soon as a pickle enters the UK, it becomes a gherkin.

Looks like all the light is coming from one of the nails. I'm not great with electricty, but I assume that that nail is the positive (or red [in Canada, anyway] or "hot") electrode?
@johnschroeder3072
@johnschroeder3072 4 жыл бұрын
No actually it is 230v AC so the polarity are constantly changing. There is most like slightly higher resistance there so it gets hotter else its the other way around and it's more conductive allowing the electrons to change "level" easier. Also in Canada they have 120v AC supply so no positive or negative either.

I've known about the electric pickle for years now, done it myself many times. The mysterious thing about this is that, although the current is alternating, and we should therefore expect the light to appear at both poles, it appears at only one. To my knowledge, the reason for this is unknown.

I guess it varies from pickle to pickle, but what voltage or amperage would be required to result in an exploding pickle?
@andraslibal
@andraslibal 5 жыл бұрын
Well you need a high enough current so that the pickle heats up and cannot dissipate the heat fast enough, leading to the water inside boiling to steam that has no way out, the problem is that it already has two holes where the steam can release ... explosion is not likely to happen.
