Zidane said himself in 2009 that Gerrard was the best player in the world and has been for years. And i didn't even mention the pace man, what a pace he have, you can't compare Zidane and Scholes to Gerrard's pace. And a little anecdote to finish : the guy score in all the finals he had play, could you believe that ? I think nobody's or very few has done that. Personally, it's my favorite player and always will be cuz nobody was transcended by the game and transcand it back like him. He's the biggest heart we've seen on the pitch and it comes out so obviosly through the screen, it's like a shining light that automatically catch our eye. If you can't see that and feel that, like many people does, well i guess we're not made of the same metal, our senses must work differently

@@adriennurmimaki6174 if you are telling me that you think Scholes and Zidane weren’t as complete as Gerrard then I wouldn’t keep talking. You could justify scholes because he couldn’t tackle too well but zidane’s defensive skills are SEVERELY underrated. Watch his performance against Italy in 2006, he helped contain Zambrotta and Grosso. In terms of pace, Zidane at Juve was fast. His pace isn’t talked about much but he was pretty fast at Juve. Also FYI, one time a reporter asked Zidane what it was like to be the best player in the world, and he said “I don’t know, you’d have to ask Paul Scholes”. Gerrard’s passion is awesome but I think Zidane had more passion. All of these apply with Seedorf as well. Seedorf was an amazing player who was more complete than Gerrard in all the same aspects that Zidane was

I don't know a midfielder in the modern game who's as complete as Steven Gerrard. Great defensive qualities, great goals - with his feet and his head, and great work rate. The fact that he was an amazing captain is just icing on the cake. At times he played in the 6, at times he played almost like a second striker at Liverpool. Thankful to have seen him play.

In watching Gerard, and remembering him, here's what he had that quickly sums it up. And that made him a great player and also great to watch. PPTBFD. Pace, power, technique, bite, forward direction. He led by his work rate and play too, instead of depending purely upon any outward, off the park, personality. But being a good pro, with his work and attitude in training, the leadership was seamless then (through the week, between games) also. The add-in other aspects of his game, such as vision, made him in his prime the complete player.

Becks and Gerry!!!! What a midfield :) While Becks was playing with England it's amazing with how many goals he was involved with directly or indirectly. Same can be said with Gerry. That England squad could have easily won a world cup in my opinion but they never gelled in that manner I suppose. Plus you had a manager like Mclaren who disliked Beckham and benched him!!!
