holy crap! He was playing those intervals so fast, I thought he was possessed and playing two tones at the same time!!! What kind of horn/mouthpiece does this guy use? (I know it's not important, but I'm curious just the same).

By 2009, I think he would have already moved to a Prestige 2051. And he plays on one of the Denis Wick Ultra Series pieces, though I don't know which one, off the top of my head.

@Brassman7 yup not even full time professional : working as an engineer. he plays the version for flute on his euphonium!! he plays wreally amazing and a nice person to. he can wreally compete with childs and Mead.

strange because he is considered to be amongst the very best. Of carnaval the Venice he plays the variations for flute!! He plays so fast and high and all with a bautifull tone. Never forget he is principal euphonium of willebroek: european champions!! But he has a dayjob so not fulltime musician. even more amazing

@dani92396 mead definitely uses the sm3 ultra. sorry, but it has a large shank.

hmm, actually he plays exactly the arban version for trumpet (valve instruments), which can be found in arban school 1. i'm not sure, but i would assume, that's the "original"

As soon as I heard Mead play, I had to say goodbye to Childs. Although they both are great players, I love the sound of Steven. :D He's my Euphonist Idol!

@dani92396 at first, when you´ve passed your 40, you won´t become much better, at second, david childs is very good, but he´ll never be as good as steven mead, in any way

i like steven mead better, both r brilliant artist, but steven is much more smoother and has a better technique to me, just my personal opinion
