You can tell who is very good at Aikido by how they fall. Aikido is serious business. It is not fake. I studied for two years. I watched my sensei steal my life force from me, and mop the floor with my face. He said that was the secret of Aikido, channeling the opponent's energy and momentum. And of course failling while landing on your feet gracefully. Amazing martial art.

As far as Seagal goes I don't know the man I can't say how his personality is I know the things that I've heard what I do know is if a lot of those things aren't then that's pretty terrible, to throw hate at a man who has done what he loves and he loves Aikido what's wrong with that, what I will say after studying Aikido for 9 years I know what it takes to start getting good at it and it is a lot of commitment and his level he's phenomenal and from what I can see a very good teacher, I would love to meet him and train with him just once

Seagal is good! In aikido, you need a very calm and quick mind. You already know what you're going to do because you have rehearsed, you see that punch or kick coming before it starts just by the eyes and body movement, and so you're waiting for it. Then with one calm move catch that fist and snap that wrist. Catch that kick and snap that ankle..
@anthonybrogan3904 жыл бұрын
A real fight is not rehearsed, you have no idea what you are going to do because you have no idea what your opponent is going to do. Try catching a fist, a decent boxer can throw a four punch combination in one second, a Wingchun Kungfu fighter averages seven punches in one second......good luck.
@wendellpeters50834 жыл бұрын
@@anthonybrogan390 every fight is rehearsed..that is why you practice and stay in shape.. no matter the attack..a calm and quick mind..will kata out of danger.. you must be real..is your opponent in shape..what are the size difference, should you attack or counter..does he have a weapon..are there things around you to use to quickly put your opponent out w minimal damage.. all of these come by years of preparation..w a calm and quick mind..and repetitive preparation..

Sometimes he acts like a prick, then other times , I see a nice guy inside him. Very strange really. I do see a good guy deep down, but he can be a prick. Van Damme seems like a really nice guy and genuine. I like both of those guys. I don't know Seagal or Van Damme but do like them both. Do love Seagal's movie fights! Interesting to watch. You could see that nearly everybody was using ‘lazy’ strength (square on to the force coming at them) or the attacker’s acquiescence to throw opponent to the mat. Hardly anyone got what he said about using the body to ‘cut’ the space (attack at an acute angle) to unbalance and neutralise the opponent. He’s far better than most people give him credit for.

I dunno.... I never touched him. I always make a point to not judge someone who hasn't thrown me. But i would tend to agree with you. I don't see any flaws in what he says and does. Looks consistent and coherent. I am not sure that what he does can be easily understood, though. His Irimi-nage is extremely short. Although the essence of the move IS there, I think it can be easily overlooked to the untrained eye...

Ho great. well to say one good thing about it. He taught me some pretty good moves, He used me as the dummy, for demonstration. I'll never mess around with that Dude. I'll never forget that guy. Took fifteen Cop's to move Him out. Boy were they scared. Lousy pigs. They finally got him shackled. Paraded him down the hallway. They were dreast in full armer plus camera's. A sight to see. Lousy cups 💪 To this day I still use those techniques. Very effective. 👍👍👍

@sixbells996 жыл бұрын
Aikido works! What do you mean works? What work is it suppose to do? If you mean it works on the street, it is not a close combat martial art. What people forget is they never look back at the very first people who invented Akidio and their background. For example Kenshiro Abbe who introduced Aikido to the UK also trained my Sensi, Sensi. But in combat fighting, this style became Goshinkwai which is a devastating style designed to kill an adopted by the SAS. Don’t believe me check out the link below. Yet this same very style came from Abbe who founded Aikido in the UK and a direct student of Ueshiba. You see what modern Aikido practitioners forget is that the founders already had strong combat skills. They were looking for something else that was also spiritual in nature. But in the 50’s late at night Abbe the head of UK aikido was confronted by 3 youths, he took out his wallet put it on the floor and said to them, I will die or Kill all of you for this wallet, are you willing to die? That is NOT AKIDIO! but Goshinkwai!! The curves and circles of Akidio are very important in combat it teaches center and balance and movement. All very good skills, but it’s missing the obvious, strikes and kicks. But that was the point of it! The guys who created it wanted something different. Beginner or advance Akidio is one of the least effective street fighting arts. 6 months of boxing or Thai boxing is much more effective for combat defence than 3 years of Aikido. I used to think that I've been studying Aikido for 9 years I can make this art work just by using two or three hand deflections and the hand deflections are what makes this art work that and dropping your Center and timing and you're right it's going to take a beginner a long time to get it it took me about nine years to start to get it but now I can do it but I believe that if I was taught the hand deflections sooner on, I would have been able to do it sooner , I don't understand why an art that's based off of Sword movement kenjitsu Seagal and his students are the only ones using the hand deflections of kenjutsu to me it doesn't make any sense but I no longer wonder because I know how to make it work and what I will tell you is when you do it to somebody you better make sure it's warranted because they may not get back up or they may have a busted joint and you may be in a shitload of trouble

Those sunglasses are not to be underrated, they have the ability to track doughnuts and hot dogs for miles away. That belly is a perfect resting place for his hands, it's like a built in hands caddy. It's is unbelievable how other countries think this clown is real. Just goggle or KZbin when Gene LeBell choked him out and seagul pooped his pants, it's hilarious.

It always amazes me how KZbin brings out all the opinionated experts comments about other Martial Arts.Any Martial Art is good if you enjoy it and very few people will ever use it anyway. Also its about self improvement not about beating someone up! Seagals an actor and is acting like an expert,maybe in his prime he was pretty good.

I remember attending a Karate seminar once with the late 8th Dan Tatsuo Suzuki...it was pretty exciting when he finally came around to help me individually, although he didn't speak a word of English. The man was hard as nails and the refined technique was just incredible to witness in person. The students here will have a great memory from this visit.
