monster buddy was such an interesting episode. We have another instance of calling back to previous episodes first of all. Second of all, we spend an entire episode sort of bonding with this character, only to see them get impaled. It's also interesting as the gems, while reluctantly let steven do his thing, will immediantly attack at the first sight of danger, even if steven advises against it (it makes the entire thing hard to watch [in a good way], but it also just feels like steven is talking to a wall). And then watching what is essentially a pet die is just heartbreaking.

The main starting point of where we learn deeper stuff about the gems history than just how Steven lives with them.

(breaking up my episode comments so they arent so long) (Edit: Nevermind, this still became very long oh my god) An indirect kiss is also a very interesting episode. We learn a surprisingly large amount of information. What happens when a gem gets cracked, Rose had healing tears, steven has healing spit and there is a healing fountain that has been overgrown with Roses plants for a while (also that the gems didnt get cracked for atleast how long steven was alive, due to not needing the fountain apparantly). I like the change between Steven actually telling the story and what happened, leading to a natural way to tie in the ending (and some funny things like the whole glasses stuff, which also lead naturally into the ending). The end of his story, with Pearl suddenly saying all these things out of left field is definetly how a child would see this (although slightly worrying-). However, my biggest interest lies in Steven talking about Rose. It gives some really deep insight. Steven, simply put, doesnt know how to feel about her. He's never met her, so could never form his own opinion. He needs to base it off of others opinions of Rose. And every other adult figure in his life has very strong feelings about Rose. He wants to feel sad, but cant, and that is such a real response in this situation. I feel like the scene with the fountain reaching out to steven can be interpreted in a few ways (which i'll mostly leave for now. Spoiler free comments as much as i can!) I also feel there was a pressure the entire time, for steven to do this, to have this power and be able to use it (which you cant expect from a kid still learning. Not to mention a hybrid where you dont know how his biology affects his powers. Afterall, he got healing spit which was not mentioned for Rose this episode). And steven pushes it to a very large degree. That and how scared he was of losing the gems if he doesnt get those powers makes me think on what actually is going on with him. Kid needs some help. Most pressingly some reassurance from the Gems.

This show has a lot of moments that make its entire series of the two shows and movie perfect in both the good bad and sad moments bad and sad being when stuffs intense like them fighting centipede lie in the star cave and it saving Steven from the ice spike
