i still have a place in my heart for steven universe, but i love critical opinions on the show, especially on the episodes that deserve it. these recent episodes have a lot of problems and i’m glad you addressed them properly. another fantastic review, as usual :>
@jamieuniverse93187 жыл бұрын
I don't know if he addressed it properly, he bashes on them a lot, instead of just critiquing he just makes videos of himself getting mad at all of these Steven universe episodes. I mean if the Crewniverse watches this video and makes an actual leanment towards making legitimate improvements then this video would've had some use. But it really sounds like he's just bashing on their work. I would agree the episodes weren't the best, but nonetheless I enjoyed them, and a portion of what he critiqued I disagree with. Which honestly shows how biased his critiques are. It sounds like you outright hated the episodes, as if their is one type of "good writing". If 'Good writing' is based off what makes you satisfied, then its different for each person. And Honestly I just want the reviews where he focuses on the more interesting parts of episodes, instead of crying like a child over every little thing he didn't like. Elk if your reading this, please just become the happier version of yourself, or else I'm just going to stop watching your videos, no sense in getting frustrated and writing long comments like these.
@Sangled7 жыл бұрын
i disagree. elk is allowed to get frustrated if an episodes performs poorly in his eyes. and it's not as if he's ranting and raving, he's explaining thoroughly why certain elements fall flat. i love his good reviews as well, but critically analyzing what something did wrong can be just as entertaining as pointing out how well something did. and if steven universe releases a bunch of episodes that could've been better, it only makes sense that he's honest about how he feels. this video (and the rest of elk's content, in my opinion) isn't 'bashing', because while he makes sarcastic comments, the whole video has a solid argument grounded by knowledge of the show and good narrative. if you enjoyed the episodes, it shouldn't matter what he says anyway! his reviews are clearly what he believes, and in no way is he saying that you should like/dislike it on the same level as him. if you disagree with him, it's more productive to point out key details and problems in his argument rather than saying he's 'biased' because you enjoyed it and he didn't. calling him a picky, crying child just makes your accusation weaker.
@greendecepticon61487 жыл бұрын
Sangled agreed people act like you ever not allowed to have different opinions.
@jamieuniverse93187 жыл бұрын
I got a bit heated in my last comment. But I should clear some things up - Bashing means 'Attacking in someway' in this case, which means sarcasm, voicing strongly how he was frustrated, etc. - I was sort of working off a place I didn't establish. Its great to have different opinions, I wasn't getting mad for that, actually it felt sort of the other way around. 2 things I was getting mad for, 1. He's talking as if his way is the right way, when I mentioned his bias of "good writing" he mentions things that were "bad writing" Its more common for people to think that their way is right, then it is to force others to think the same way. Its obvious he was voicing his truthful opinion, but considering the wording and tone there was a clear indication that he thought his way was right. If you want me to quote stuff I will. Bias Definition - prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair: (To define something as good or bad is 'in favor' or biased) 2. He was bashing, I don't know how you can't hear it, if you really want me to I'll go through the video and make quotes of him 'bashing' I will Also the reason I mentioned the thing about the crewniverse making legitimate improvements, is because. (Not to say he can't voice his own opinion) If he's making critiques, what purpose does it have besides satisfying his hatred for the episode? If he genuinely thinks the crewniverse would watch this episode and make improvements, then I'd respect his decision a lot more. So really what I meant to do, was give advice to him. Because to me it feels like he's getting mad and making a video about it, because he's mad and this is what he does. Or making a review video about something entertaining (him getting mad) to keep the channel afloat (Which btw I doubt is the likely option). And he looks unhappy, or just has lots of hatred. If addressing something properly means voicing your personal opinion, then your right. But I think if you were president and giving a speech, you wouldn't just voice your own opinion, you would take into consideration everyone else's. His tone and words indicated clearly to me that he thought his opinion was right. And you know what your right, I shouldn't really care, that's where I'm pathetic, but I'm subbed cause I like his videos, and I don't really like these. And as a byproduct it doesn't really seem like he's fulfilling any needs beside getting his anger out, which doesn't seem to really make him happy. To me it sounds like his pickiness makes him unhappy, and cause him to make videos like these. Its true he adds solid critique, but what's the crossing line between critique and bashing? If he wanted to address it properly according to my definition of 'address properly' he could've just mentioned the critiques in a less violent way, and I do tend to see him use either strong signs of excitement or frustration in his review videos, maybe out of habit, or purposefully. Possibly using it for entertainment. The way he rants/critiques in this video makes people get sort of worked up about stuff, the same way you go to a protest and you get frustrated and excited about whatever. In itself protesting/ranting, is fine, it can be useful. But the way you feel is not healthy, your mind says "No keep this energy going." but you can also feel the rage, the hurt. If he wants to make videos about that, well whatever, he can do whatever he wants. But I rather be happy, and I'm pretty sure he would to. But in conclusion this video aims to be more harmful than good, in reality I don't know how Uncivilized Elk feels, it sounds like he's unhappy but he could be totally chill, idk.. its not cool to bash, bashing which at least I saw clearly in this video, (and I would be very surprised if you didn't pick up all the comments, sarcasm, etc.) is crossing the line from review/critique open-minded related content, to Rant/Bash related content. I liked the Steven bomb somewhat, and yea I do get mad when people bash on stuff I liked, or sort of liked, which was childish on my part. But I was mad for a reason, there's problems with this, if you want an analogy. Think back to the protest. Protests can be helpful, by making a change in our government, they can also be violent, and hurt people.

Pretty sure the Pearl scene was a hint that she's under some kinda compulsion to not speak about certain things in the past. Was super confused by it at first. You can see she's physically trying to pry her hand away as if possessed. It would make sense for the diamonds to have some kind of measure to control their Pearls and to make sure that they can't divulge important information even by accident. Pretty important plot point to bury under such an annoying arc.

No, I'm totally with you. It's HIGH TIME Steven should have demanded to sit down with the Gems and have them tell them EVERYTHING about Homeworld, his mother, Pink Diamond, the War, the shattering--he deserves to know! He's old enough. Even if he hadn't been asking, Garnet should have told him this stuff by now, there's really no excuse for not doing so. It's just cruel.

Right the quality of the show has gone down. With as much time the show has between bombs shouldn’t the show be at least.... better. Idk I’m used to them being really slow on the story but this just felt weird. And the art while it was better than it has been in a while is still not up to par on the older seasons. You could say I’m holding them to very high standards, but these people have proved they can make a show that is loved by al no matter their beliefs or political agenda. I’ve heard the most anti liberal, anti sjw. People say they love this show. But the creators were starting to become lazy and it started showing up in the show.
@wolpertingera58297 жыл бұрын
1:48 I can NOT believe they let him say that. This is the worst thing I could imagine someone saying about the mess he is responsible for. Lars got KILLED. He saw another kid/teenager freaking die in front of him and he is not upset about it? No emotional impact? Nothing? I don't care if Lars is "alive" again, thanks to Steven, that boy can never go back to his old life. He is stuck in space now as a pink zombie who doesn't seem to need food and who can be abused as a portal without being actually asked.
@bekahshmoo2 жыл бұрын

Yeah....this whole set of episodes felt like a very bad decision. When I started watching Steven Universe, I could not tolerate how annoying I though Steven was, but I went through it. The show got better, "Hey, maybe Steven is not so bad after all" And then they went back to Steven from earlier in the series. I'm having a hard time enjoying these new episodes.
@Hakajin7 жыл бұрын
It's especially frustrating because there's an easy way to do this right. When people go through trauma, or just hard times, we tend to think things like relationship squabbles and unrequited love would seem less important by comparison... But actually, their importance becomes magnified, because you cling to the good things in your life at those times, the people most important to you. I know when I was at rock bottom, I did focus on that kind of thing. It would've been easy to write Steven experiencing something like that. But then he just completely brushes off what happened on home world! I mean, I guess you could say it's shock, but how long has he been back on Earth now? Seems kinda too late to take it in that direction now.

The idea of "space lag" just makes the way Connie treated Steven even worse, honestly lol. Steven has always been my least favorite character, but I don't think he deserved that after everything that happened. He's not completely in the right but idk man I just can't find much sense in Connie's reason for being mad. And thank you for mentioning the absurdity of Connie taking lion because why? Why did lion even get mad at Steven?? Since when did lion decide to take a side in the argument lol??? Like, I get that they're kids and are obviously going to make some dumb decisions, but maaaan doesn't mean I'm not going to criticize it. You're 100% right though. We easily could've gone without this argument plotline to focus on Lars, because that's a pretty big deal. The boy raised someone from the DEAD, how can no one be talking about it? "At least what's left of this batch of episodes get better" Really? I personally thought Kevin Party (although Kevin himself was the best party of the episode for me) to be a little aggravating as well, so I can't wait to hear your analysis on it.

@moonydoll71097 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. It's so inconsistent narrative wise, seeing how Steven wholeheartedly blamed himself for the kidnappings in the previous episode, yet now he gives no shits about someone still being affected and in danger because of the kidnappings he blames himself for?? Where's the logic? Isn't Steven supposed to care for others to the extreme? How could he possibly prioritize himself right now? I feel like this whole thing could have been better if Steven had went over to Connie's to get Lion back, and then the two would be forced to work things about due to proximity if nothing else. Then Steven would look like less of a narcissistic ass who only cares about his own trivial issues; Lars, Lars' parents, and Sadie's legitimate turmoil be damned.

With Steven, I can't sympathize with caring so little about the death of my friend(s) and/or planet that I can't get off my ass, understand the situation (root of conflict, how the war panned out, possible consequences of my decisions, etc.) and at least have a plan as to what to do when threats come instead of just hoping I can become friends with my enemies. @SgtTwilight7 жыл бұрын
I always had two theories. * The writers thinking they could do no wrong * The over reliance on story arcs. Some of the writers for this show are incredibly smug, thinking they do no wrong and throw wrenches in the shows progression to satisfy their own needs. There was _one writer_ who forced Peridot and Lapis to be a thing, it was awful then and it's awful now. Not only that but it ruined Peridots entire character, making her go from a spunky, likable engineer to _the most annoying thing ever_ Secondly, think about all those episodes you mentioned @Gaylord. They were all _one shots_ . One off adventures. God forbid we have a plot that's self-contained to a single episode nowadays, everything has to be drawn out over the course of six god damn episodes. I miss when we had episodes where the Gems would just go to cool locations and fight monsters. Sure, I don't want every episode to be like that anymore, but a return to form every now and again would be nice.

People gave Adventure Time crap for their streak of poor episodes in Season 6. But the show improved after that, got back to being great, and it's ready for a great conclusion. This streak of bad Steven Universe episodes is ten times worse than Adventure Time's streak.
@Hakajin7 жыл бұрын
I thought season 6 got into some fascinating territory, with the whole thing about the comet and Finn's backstory. There were some crazy complex metaphors there, and... Well, as a literature person, I just ate it up. Even if I weren't, I kinda liked how mysterious it all was; I think I would've liked that as a kid, too. But if you're talking about filler, that's another matter. I watched most of Adventure Time all at once, so the seasons kinda blend together for me and I can't remember what filler went where.
@philly_sports15587 жыл бұрын
I like Adventure Time Season 6, but it's probably my least favorite season of the series. The episodes went a lot more philosophical and confusing to the point where it started to overshadow the fun of the show. It was getting too deep for it's own good. The following seasons (7-9) are much better because they achieved a great balance between the heavy, thought-provoking themes, the fun adventures, and the great character development.
@Hakajin7 жыл бұрын
I dunno, I really enjoyed the philosophical stuff, just because what it was doing was so different and had so many implications and interesting things to say. It kind of exemplifies one of my favorite things about animation, which is how it uses the abstract to express complex ideas and themes. Granted, I think I had a better grasp on it than most because a) I majored in English, b) I have some familiarity with Buddhism, and c) I'd seen a similar metaphor in a manga called Children of the Sea. Although, it's funny, the thing with Finn's dream sequence, where the comet falls into the crevasse? I never would've noticed the symbolism there, except I was watching a Nostalgia Critic vlog on that episode, and he said, "I thought it looked like a sperm." To which his friend said, "You just have a dirty mind," but no, that was totally intentional. Eheh, I get excited about stuff like that.

It turns his emotional maturity into immaturity and his deep connections with others as a big flashing vulnerability. It feels like these episodes their plot was sorta just to force some weeks of Lars being in space so that he can have a slew of adventures under his belt when we see him again (like we saw in that con teaser some time ago) Essentially, all of this was just to give Lars time to become epic off screen

I think that was actually the intent. The whole arc was Steven trying to erase that anything happened, his development is realizing that, as an undersocalized 14 year old, his coping skills are no where near enough for this, and he is kinda BSODing.

SU is trying to be like AT with its levity episodes mixed with its serious ones... but AT has a very different plot, most of the time there isn't a giant threat. With SU, ever since the introduction of Peridot and Homeworld wanting revenge, you really can't leave all that hanging to do other things, it makes no in universe sense! AT can do these things since things like the Linch come and are dealt with in sequence basically, or they think they defeated him. That and the Mini Series dealing with other threats and such. So the fun episodes don't feel like it is pushing aside issues to deal with. SU has this giant unsolved arc looming over everything so spending time on Steven and Connie fighting for no reason and OOC, the gems being secretive, and NOT talking to Lars' parents is just so fundamentally wrong in storytelling that it is infuriating
@PBDNR7 жыл бұрын
i dont think the problem is the different plot, its just bad writing and focusing on uninteresting characters.
@whohangedmyname7 жыл бұрын
john11719 the mayor diference I think is that Adventure Time has continuity but is episodic, you can see the episodes out of order regardless of the timeline, so AT can have some episodes not focusing on the plot while Steven Universe is not, it was in season 1, but starting season 2 it had a plot to be followed, and it doesn't do that, and Steven having to be the protagonist of every episode only makes the non-plot episodes more jarring, some of adevnture time's episodes don't even have finn in the episode.
@MyToonsAnimates7 жыл бұрын
And that's why AT is better.

Not only was Steven dismissing Garnet's story a slap in the face to the audience, it is a betrayal of Steven's character in my opinion. Once upon a time Steven might have brushed past gem lore, but lately a huge focus has been placed on Steven wanting to know more about Homeworld, the rebellion, and the secrets being kept from him. Whole arcs have been focused about his anger that things are being kept from him (the fight with Pearl) and about the secrets his Mom kept (Bismuth, Lion, etc.). Hell, the whole abduction arc started because Steven wanted to know more about Blue Diamond/her palanquin but Pearl was unwilling to give answers!

This arc was absolutely terrible. To me, these 6 episodes are the lowest point in the whole show, far worse than any S1a episode ever was. I am legitimately surprised and kind of saddened that the Crewniverse is even capable of writing content that is this bad. The only upside is that since (not too far from) nothing important happened in these episodes, if the coming episodes happen to be better, these can safely be ignored and at least conceptually considered non-canon. We could safely advise future watchers of this series to just skip these episodes altogether and pretend they don't exist. Hopefully, anyway.

This kinda of writing would be forgivable in the first season but since they’ve had their time to establish the show and add layers or lore and fascinating subplots, this is inexcusable. If they plan their seasons in advance then why is the writing still so terribly sloppy? It seems they just make it up as they go. Which is a major disservice to the show.

I'll agree that the character models have become increasingly fucked due to artists not keeping on model but the backgrounds really haven't gotten lazier.

Maybe I'm looking too deep into this, but I saw Steven's freak-out over Connie's absence as a result of his "space lag". Like you said, he'd just gone toe-to-toe with intergalactic space fascists, saw his friend die, revived him, and then had to leave him behind. A lot of terrible things happened very quickly, most of which he had little control over. The Crystal Gems, Greg, and Connie have been Steven's support system, and his first instinct was to cling to them after such a traumatic experience. Then Connie left, and suddenly a piece of his support system is gone. What if the others leave too? What if they're angry with him? What if the diamonds come to earth, or capture/kill Lars, and he has no one to rely on? What if? What if? What if? Or maybe you're right and it's lazy writing.

Did connie even know about Lars? I mean, it seemed like Steven just got back and didn't tell anyone anything about what happened... She may not have known about Lars, how Steven got back, or that he needed lion to be able to check on Lars. With all that aside, it was still wrong of her to take lion. Lion is Steven's, not connies, and for her to take him like that when she likely walked or was driven to Stevens house is ridiculous.

@ToaThuka1867 жыл бұрын
The only disagreement I have with your review is that, Connie didn't "take" Lion. Repeatedly throughout the show he's shown a certain level of autonomy, of independence, coming and going as he (or the writers) pleased. He could've returned to Steven anytime he wanted, yet chose not to. But this "choice" still yet circles back to what you said about the "Lars-zombie" plotline being shafted. If Lion possessed the intelligence he seems to have, why didn't he ever return to Steven? He must realize the significance of another pink zombie running around, since Steven popped out of his head with no warning. But instead he chose to remain behind with Connie for seemingly no reason. One could argue that Lion is still just an animal and can't connect the dots on these things, but the show has shown otherwise. He knew to take Steven to Rose's armory when he needed training, and he knew exactly where to find Rose's scabbard. Ultimately, it just seems that the writers needed an excuse to keep Lion away, so that Steven wouldn't prematurely return to Lars and interrupt one of the heroic feats he appeared to perform in the "Lars in the Stars" preview. I imagine the writers wanted to surprise viewers by having Lars as a pirate captain after the last time we saw him, but needed a way to have enough time pass so that it would be believable. Hence, this convoluted mess of Lion staying with Connie, something that bothered me a whole lot during this bomb.
@JEEVES6357 жыл бұрын
meh. i agree that the whole StevenxConnie situation was forced, but I think the writers just wanted more of a reason to put Lion to the side than just not being there, so that they could get in some slice-of-life episodes (with plot points foreshadowed) before they return to Lars and the overall plot.
@stephenskinner72077 жыл бұрын
The way this show teased us with lore while giving us nothing but a B plot with Steven and Connie was downright annoying. As if they haven't been doing for the entirety of Season 4, but now it just feels like they're shoving it in our face. I would have given a slight pass to Pearl not being able to speak about Homeworld, as a lot of people have been pointing out that there seem to be increasing hints that she ACTUALLY can't speak when her hand covers her mouth, as part of her residual built in loyalty towards Homeworld. That's a great idea, and even more so when you realize how much it's been slowly foreshadowed over the series! But no, like you said, it got tossed aside to make way for more of Steven's emotional immaturity. And all the other characters were wasted in this episode as well. I think you're right, the "Steven only" perspective really IS hurting the show, especially with how clueless he's been acting of late.
@Gojiro74 жыл бұрын
I think you've forgotten what its like to be a teenager, obviously stuff that Steven went through is beyond what anyone ever would, but at the end, those are the years where our emotions are at the most against us and things that seem like obvious logic fail to hit and we make dumb superficial decisions and stick to them out of misplaced feelings of "its who we are", so Steven being an emotional trainwreck over a girl he likes not talking to him, its a lot more relatable then you might realize, hell I remember watching Elreka 7 as a teenager not because I actually liked it (I infact hate it) but because I related with the main characters stupid attempts to win over a girl, its a rough time to be alive that nobody ever looks back on with anything but cringe.

I definetely saw it as steven projecting the same way he did onto dewy or onto the band or onto all the other things he used as a way of escapism. He can't comprehend what he went through so he uses smaller things as a scapegoat. Its also because steven cares more about the people in his life than the situations, which is part of his core flaw of having a terrible time actually dealing with the processing of all of these events. I think that you're projecting way too much maturity onto him. Its not that he's handled all of those situations, its that he's coping with them with coping mechanisms that are silly because if they weren't silly they would add to his depression further.

I really didn't like these new episodes. I might have thought they were mediocre if it wasn't for the six months waiting for them. Now I just hate all of them and wish they were not made. Of course that's not the SU crew's fault since CN plans when new episodes are released. But even if the wait wasn't so long the episodes are still not great. This drama between Steven and Connie seems so forced. The gem lore is what makes the show so great and I think the show is at the point where it needs to focus more on the adventures of exploring gem locations, the gem lore, and the mystery of Pink Diamond's death. Having a few slice of life episodes sprinkled in wouldn't be bad but they should be in between the adventure/lore driven episodes.

I actually like the Greg moments in this ep. If there is one character they absolutely never screwed up its Greg. It was great seeing him try so hard to help his son through his emotional "crisis". You can tell all he wants is to be there for Steven whether its going to Korea and getting abducted, helping him get control of his shape shifting powers, to even something as mundane as getting a phone signal, Greg treats it with absolute importance because that's how much he loves his son.

Steven Universe is my favorite show, maybe ever because it helped me get through my depression and anxiety and still does sometimes when I have flare ups, however, I must say this bomb was the most disappointing by far. We wait more than half a year for what? NOTHING, that's what. You were completely right when you said we wouldn't have missed out on anything had we not seen these episodes because we totally wouldn't have. Six episodes after a complete and turn-of-events homeworld arc is too long to learn no new information about anything at all, which is exactly what happened in these episodes. Like, if you're going to release a bunch of episodes like these, just call them regular episodes and not a bomb. Steven bombs in the past have served a main purpose of providing us with a lot of information/plot development in the span of 4-5 episodes but this bomb did none of that. I get that Steven is trying to recuperate by being at home and trying to get through his situation with Connie, but we should learn something new or at least go check on Lars for pete's sake! Lapis leaving was the only remotely interesting thing that happened the whole time.

heres what the show needs to do to improve a.STOP with the steven being the narrator thing get it hes the title charachter bet heres the thing in other shows they like to give secondary characters time to shine and to prevent the main charachters arc from becoming annoying however steven universe always has to tie things in with steven preventing many good character arcs from being explored and letter b. filler arcs now many have already called out this however i find this especially frustrating because she also claims that theres no such thing filler arcs which rebecca i love you but thats just plain arrogence this bomb dewey wins really showed this now before you start saying that dewey isnt mayor anymore which on paper SOUNDS like change but like other "develepments" in these types of episodes the only thing this will effect are other filler arcs tell me how many times have these charachters or things that happen in episodes like this actually effect the stuff with homeworld plus the shows on hiatus constantly so theirs no point to having episodes that are there to give us a breath

Ok, I finally have to admit that Steven Universe isn't really that good. I have a lot of nostalgic connection to it, and I still find it much more enjoyable than Adventure Time, but the writing, dialouge, pacing, and maybe line delivery are all really awkward. I never expected it to happen, but the Crewniverse's storytelling skills have dropped below expectations, rather than rising above as they have since maybe the Zoo arc. I suppose that gives me hope that I'll eventually be able to make a quality animated show with enough effort later on in life, but it's so dissapointing to see the GEM of my childhood reduced to... Meh. EDIT: Also, now that I think about it, a lot of the issues with this show could be solved if it didn't limit itself to the point of view of Steven. We would be able to have episodes with Lars in space or some of the Homeworld gems, or one off moments with some of the Crystal Gems without the need for Steven to be crammed into plots and given arcs that don't really go anywhere.

this arch should have had an a and b plot. The a plot would have been the more important arch about sadie and lar's parents dealing with the fact that their son and sadie's friend is in space and could be in serious danger. Lar's parents could blame steven for not bringing their son back/letting him die on another planet/letting him get captured by aliens. All of which are valid reasons for them to be pissed at steven (same applies to sadie ). On top of all of that steven has to deal with the trauma that he went though on homeworld and the b plot which is him dealing with Connie's saltness. Actually i interpret Pearl’s hand over mouth thing totally differently. She’s physically trying to pull her own hand off her mouth here, she’s not on the verge of tears. The shaking was from her hand being un-removable from her mouth despite her pulling on it. Pearl puts her hand over her mouth every time Pink Diamond is discussed, without fail, and I’m confident it’s not just a quirk. It’s programming. I think she saw what actually happened to PD and someone - probably white diamond - reprogrammed her so that she physically couldn’t talk about it.

Times like this I start to side with e;r 's review of the show, In that, it acts like it has a plot but everything mostly returns to the status quo of "Steven's home, all is well". Lol Lars is basically dead and we're focused on mayor dewey and Kevin ://

My only hope was that these episodes were laying down a foundation for better future episodes. I think them showing Pearl struggling to open up had more meaning behind it. Her hand seemed to involuntarily fly to her mouth. There are theory vids about it and I think they're on to something. Kind of a sad way to end such a long hiatus though. If SU was my boyfriend, I'd be questioning our relationship and feeling like he wasn't giving me enough attention. Why are you being so distant SU!!! It's like you don't even care. XC

Just one thing: Connie didn't take Lion. Lion does what he want. Let's not put it on Connie.

Oh my God. *I don't care* about the lore of this show anymore because it keeps dangling bits over our heads like that'll keep us glued to our laptops/cell phones in anticipation, but then an episode like this and the Steven Acts Like A Pissant arc happens and--it's just not worth it and the show acts like its entire existence doesn't hinge on that lore alone. Hell, the way the Trial wrote BD and YD made me turn off the show for good. It's also annoying when *RONALDO, FUCKING RONALDO* cares more about the gem history than the main character does.

Rewatching this three years later, I finally realize that Pearl couldn't speak because of the whole pink diamond ordeal.
