I know some criticized the interviewer but I learned more about Steven in parts 4 & 5 than in any other interview.

So much respect for him. The artists that I've remained the biggest fans of over the years are the ones that don't compromise their vision. So if it's solo, Porcupine Tree, No Man, or whatever, I'll be following Steven Wilson.

Steven spends so much time talking about things outside of his life (music industry, downloading music, resurgence of vinyl) that we don't hear enough about him personally. I quite liked that brief glimpse into his sentimental life when he was asked about love. :)

I'd like to add that I feel the same way. Thank you for your work.

Can't believe the complaints about the interviewer - this was the most interesting SW interview in a very long while. He got to repeat his usual tirade about LPs and MP3s, but was also challenged to go beyond that and tell personal stories. Much more interesting and relevant, too, with regards to understanding his ambitions and his music

I hope you're right. I would kill for another PT album or tour.

Really enjoyed that line at the end about 'artistic process as failure' Interesting stuff!

nothing but the utmost respect for this man :)

I'm pretty sure Steven himself said that he'll be doing another PT album when the time is right, just like with No-Man; that perhaps it's not happening right now, but he knows he'll be back on both of them when he feels the time is right.

You would have liked to have known... what? What are his influences? About his first band? What kind of guitar he plays? What's his favorite color? I swear, I think some people would like to hear the same damn pointless questions over and over. Read his damn Wikipedia page. This guy asked questions that made Steve tell stories and talk about things I've NEVER heard him talk about before. And believe me, I love me some SW, too. If that's not a good interview, then I don't know what the fuck is.

I was just about ready to bitch about this interview, but parts 4 and 5 where very worthwhile. Somehow glad that interviewer wasn't very informed on his work :)..

7:15 - 7:40 pretty much confirms my worst fears about PT. On the bright side, Steven's solo work is far more complex and interesting anyways.

"Same way that everyone does..." Hahaha, he is so tired of those kind of questions! No, I know what is the real thing that annoys him, THE NOISE during the interview. Don't you notice when he says: 'ENOUGH' in a louder way.

The interviewer said 'love-wise', so he wanted to know if the same was true for his love life.

What does the interviewer says at 1:22? What's that's so personal? Can't hear it well.

Well, in no way Wilson is referring to PT expressively.. that´s just you, my friend ;) Don´t worry. He mentioned he hopefully will have new ideas for PT after finishing the tour.
@dannethercott578711 жыл бұрын
I really doubt that he was referring to PT here, I think he means more like producers and what not, just other people he's come across.

When the interviewer asked him about his love life in a previous part, Steven declined to answer the question and the interviewer dropped it immediately and went on to other things. What's the problem? Some people like to talk about those things. Some interview subjects, if you asked them the same question, would talk your goddamn ear off until you wished he/she would shut up. You can't blame the guy for asking the question, but you should give him credit for backing off when it was rejected.

It's funny how Steven says he can't be bothered with success and he's more interested in artistic satisfaction, when nowadays he seems to be obsessed with commercial success. It's a shame...
