I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that the police in the United States do not care the learn the law, and they are not required to learn it. I love everything you do, partially because it’s entertaining, but also because it educates these ignorant people of the law and what the bounds of their authority is. Anything we, as a country, can do to help prevent power from corrupting any further than it already has is a win in my book. And I know that’s not the purpose of this channel, but it’s a really nice perk!
@danieleriksson5587 Жыл бұрын
Us has bigger problems than their domestic policing. They are policing the world. Waging illegal wars etc
@Hadrian970727 күн бұрын
Well yeah, no normal person is gonna know every single law in their state or even the US. You're expecting police officers to learn thousands of laws! That's such an unrealistic expectation. There's definitely some police officers who know the laws WAAAY less than even your average citizen, but you're acting like every American police officer is some corrupt pos who doesn't know a single law. XD Aint just the US, even the UK and other European police officers sometimes won't know the laws that well or will just know the bare minimum. Most people in this day and age only know their bare minimum rights since once again, it's unrealistic to know every single law. If you want legal advice, that's what a lawyer is for.
@PtylerBeats27 күн бұрын
@ it’s not an unrealistic expectation that the people upholding the law actually know what laws they’re upholding. That’s the bare MINIMUM. Police officers should absolutely know the bounds of their authority and know the law better than the average citizen. That’s not a crazy expectation. That’s literally their job. Any single cop shouldn’t know everything there is to know about the law, but they SHOULD know every single thing about the most common laws that they enforce on a daily basis. And most don’t even know that. They know what everybody knows. Murder is illegal and speeding is illegal. But if you tell someone to F off, about half of the cops in the US would arrest you for disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace or something. Because they are not trained on the law, they don’t know it. They know it just like any teenager might know it. They just assume that things that are annoying must be illegal. And if someone is counting cards or refusing ID, that’s annoying and must be illegal. Which is wrong and not how the law should be enforced. That’s not me saying that all cops are corrupt. That’s me saying that the average police officer is severely undereducated about the law. If someone is enforcing the law with a gun, they should be expected to know it. Period. If they don’t, that’s a major problem.
@Hadrian970727 күн бұрын
@@PtylerBeats I agree with ya up until the 2nd sentence of your 2nd paragraph. Most cops 100% know about the most common laws they're required to enforce. They're literally required to learn all of those before they can become a cop. The thing is though is that cops once more aren't gonna know every single law nor are they gonna know laws they have less experience with. By that, I mean that your average cop is gonna deal with a lot more common laws being broken by people than "card counting." A cop may not know everything on card counting nor even if it's illegal or not so, you could have a bad experience dealing with a cop who thinks it's illegal, but once they figure out it's not then you're good to go. You're expecting cops to be almost super human and once again, know every single law. I know you don't mean that now, but that's what you're making me think. You're expecting a cop to be this perfect human who never makes mistakes or anything when that's impossible. Every single person on this planet makes mistakes including cops. Also, this is only one cop who had a freak out over card counting and gave Steven's friend a hard time out of the 1.2 million of them in the US. You're using one single bad cop to act like half or most of the police force in the US are total idiots who don't understand the law. XD "But if you tell someone to F off, about half of the cops in the US would arrest you for disorderly conduct or disturbing the peace or something." I've seen plenty of vids like that on YT and all the time, either the cop just shrugs it off or they stop the person who flipped them off and give the person a hard time all while staying in bounds of the law. They literally can't arrest you or charge you for something like that... I shouldn't have to tell you or anyone how unrealistic and stupid that is lol. Not to mention: Someone is definitely stupid af if they think they can just flip off a cop and the cop won't do a single thing or won't give them a hard time. It's in your rights to be able to do that since it's a form of expression which is protected under the 1st amendment, but that doesn't mean that someone is gonna like you flipping them off and just ignore it... I could flip you off in public and say you're a braindead b**** and you wouldn't like that would ya? It's in my rights to be able to say all that, but you would wanna say something back or even fight me over it, right? Of course, you would! FAFO. So, don't be surprised if you or someone else flips off a cop and they give you a hard time afterwards for it. You did that to yourself.
@PtylerBeats27 күн бұрын
@ I ain’t reading all that, but your second sentence is simply not true. Most officers THINK they know everything about the most common laws, but you’d be shocked at how often officers don’t understand basic laws like trespassing, assault, or disorderly conduct. But it’s not even their fault. They aren’t properly trained on it, and they aren’t expected to know it.

@present3348 As commonly known by card counting, you need to be able to deal with backoffs. The orginial idea of the comment was to give an idea to steven to try out once to see how the staff would react, especially with some really demanding/confindent casino staf it would be interested when they are shown the facts/their own player terms. As far as actual legal consequences and sueing the casino, you are right it might not have real consequences, but in the more extreme cases where rights are actually violated (not getting cashed out, fake police, entrapment etc) you could definetly make a real case out of it definetly with video from steven, the question is more, would you actually want to go to court, have a ton of work and stress for minor consequences in perspective of the amount of effort put in. The part about chrasing a party is a bit wierd imo, AP's are not breaking any laws or doing anything illegal, casino's just get very hostile because they are salty about losing money to AP's. btw never harras casino staff, they are just doing their job

At smaller casinos it’s easier to be noticed with your play. With your action, they tend to watch diligently. At the larger casinos, we just have to input your name in a database and see all your info and your associates. If you’re playing as a refusal, then we see if you’re moving with the count. Pretty simple and basic, plus we have separate people whose only job is to count cards. Takes a small load off of surveillance. Sure AP do slip through the cracks, but pretty simple to weed them out. Also, our back offs are simple and rarely need security. Since it’s Vegas, all they have to do is ask for ID and once you refuse, they will cash you out and have you leave. No hostility since it’s almost every other day people are being backed off.

@@present3348 Right, but what I'm asking is what do they have access to? I know tribal casino surveillance departments have access to the FBI's most wanted list, amongst other law enforcement databases. I want to know if private casino enterprises can see/access the NCIC. @@christophercarlone9945 when I had my background check done, I requested a copy of my report from the specific company doing them. As the person above replied, I’ll +1 that. I’ve been to a couple of casinos where I have seen them notice someone losing A LOT of money at once and they’ll normally ask them if they want to stop playing or give them some comps to get them away from the table, ultimately they’re a business and they want to make money so they won’t force you to stop spending but they do sometimes care. I’ve also seen them stop drunk people from playing, they’ll literally call security and escort them to cash out their chips and if they’re staying at a Casino/Hotel will escort to their room. As far as card counting or winning too much, all casinos will back you off eventually so naming the casino is pointless when all of them do it.

I learned how to count cards in the mid 90s because I was really bored one summer with a broken foot. I started to use my ability recently. I’m surprised he got backed off so many times.

Hey Steven, have you ever thought about going to play other casino games that are completely luck based when you can feel some heat from the casino? I have a theory that they might not think you're a card counter if they see you playing more than just black jack and instead of assuming you count cards they might just think you're "Getting Lucky" at the table. You talked about meeting another old man card counter who was playing the slots, and I have an idea that maybe he was doing that too. Just cause if you're only at the Black Jack table it might be a dead sign that's all you plan on playing. Might help to start with some roulette or slots, sacrifice $50, then go on and play and see if it takes longer for a back-off to happen

The more time you spend not playing black jack the less money you make per hour. He needs to maximise game time amongst other things. So it is more efficient to just look which Casinos are in a certain are and plan a trip to play at each casion for as long as possible until moving to the next casino. The time you spend playing at a different game, in the hopes to maybe play a bit more blackjack at the casino, can be spent driving already to the next location.
@stevenbridges Жыл бұрын
It's a great question. The two other replies hit the nail on the head. Playing other games is expensive. And a lot of the time it's a case of surveillance not even noticing you until you start doing counting behaviour. So the other game probably won't affect their perception as they won't be paying attention until you're playing BJ
@michaelboyle7281 Жыл бұрын
@@stevenbridges Gotcha gotcha, makes sense, I guess yeahh security would be tighter at the only game where you can actively beat the casino haha. I feel like Irish does a good job of hiding he's a counter, just acting and playing so aggressively so no one wants to pay attention to you, but can't outright refuse you, hiding in plain sight kinda stuff
@michaelboyle7281 Жыл бұрын
@@taliesine.8343 True, guess it doesn't work, but yeahh it was mostly supposed to be a solution for having to drive to another casino, especially since his picture may be given out to other casinos and it'd be hard to count at another one. Ideally instead of lets say 4 hours of cunting then a backoff, hopefully, itd result in 4 hours of counting, 40 minutes of other games, then a few more hours of counting if something like that would work

@snex000 Жыл бұрын
Don't give your ID to cops either - they have no authority to see it unless they suspect you of a crime. They do NOT need your ID in order to issue a trespass warning. However, they may still arrest you anyway because there is basically no accountability for them to make illegal arrests that later get dropped.

That’s interesting that they aren’t allowed to not cash you out. That’s what I felt when I couldn’t cash out. But I was waiting for a hand pay instead of holding chips. Felt pretty messed up to not mind when you lose but when you win then you are a dangerous criminal.

Stephen Bridges has an insane level of confidence to be able to refuse to show ID wherever he goes. Anyone who does what Steven does better be prepared to have the people skills to stand up for themselves, the tax skills needs to report their income to the IRS in case a judge questions your background, and a solid plan of action to file lawsuits against dirty casinos. I don't think I'd be calm and effective enough to deal with more extreme confrontations without saying/doing something criminal. If you are willing to sacrifice possible longevity to get less extreme reactions, go the players card route, cash out all your chips immediately, and do not sneak into casinos that you have previously been 86d from. Some casino companies like Caesars and Indian Casinos automatically exclude you from all sister properties and deactivate your players card, so take it seriously when that happens and don't jump to another Caesars property after your first ban notice. Other casino companies like PNG and Hard Rock, you can still hop around from sister property to sister property without them playing dirty, although a red note might appear on your account but you'll still be able to play normally.

Colorado is a little....extra. That last bit doesn't surprise me at all. Haven't tried to count cards there, but they will literally card you every few minutes (quite aggressively sometimes) even if you're just roaming about the floor and wearing one of the over 21 wrist bands that they give out, at least in the casinos I've been in. Hats off to anyone who actually pulls it off!

A pit boss knew I was a Card Counter(heard him mention a couple of times) he never snitched on me. Months later got backed off. But I spoke to pit boss and he said surveillance ended up catching me which was true since I got stopped as soon as I walked through doors

Mr Bridges, do you feel that the casinos are verifying that you are actually counting cards or are back offs based on your betting style? For instance, if you were to just randomly bet the min and max would they still back off?

Hello Steven i find your videos interesting and wanted to ask if you would ever make a video in which you show yourself card counting in a casino and commenting on your thoughts via edit, I think it'd be a very interesting and fun video and others might agree, it would add well to a card counting tutorial video that you've made.
