Have you ever wondered what US Coast Guard flight school is like? Did you know the Navy, Coast Guard, and Marines all go through the same flight school program? Here is LTJG Gunn to explain.
I had a great time checking out the cockpit of this aircraft with USCG LTJG; it was really a lot of fun. After we finished our tour, a few of the Coasties went over to our Bell 206 helicopter as we let them check out our aircraft. I think they enjoyed climbing into our helicopter and looking around our helicopter as much as we did checking out their aircraft.

That’s interesting that the services do their training together. I worked on P-3s 50 years ago and we had an officer that flew Lockheed Electras on charters from Pennsylvania to Florida while in college and had all his FAA ratings before the Navy trained him.

Seen these fly over, one just th is week. Without looking up, it sounds like a C130. But as it's gets within visual range, it's clear that it's not. Guessing it was flying to ATC Mobile. Seen a few 60's fly over too. Before the eng swap in the 65's, always sounded like "AirWolf:. Have had the pleasure of riding in a 130 a few times and a 65 (while it was embarked on our ship), the 65 doesn't ride that well IMO.
